Sadly, the new normal for BBC. Sad

FrackOff · 11/11/2019 18:00

Yay! What's wrong with that?

testing987654321 · 11/11/2019 18:00

They fell a long time ago. Look up I am Leo.

OhHolyJesus · 11/11/2019 18:00

This just confirms it in case there was any question.

When Hey Duggee comes out as trans let me know.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 11/11/2019 18:00

I think they fell a while ago.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/11/2019 18:01

Well the BBC is a bit crap for that though. Has been for a while.

It’s like saville never happened.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 11/11/2019 18:02

My dd was watching that the other night. We had a very interesting conversation.

I felt very sorry for that poor boy. He had loads going on. Too much for a kid. He needs some proper support. I hope he gets it.

testing987654321 · 11/11/2019 18:03

It's funny isn't it? "I am not just a boy in a dress."

I suppose they aren't "just" that, in the same way that I am not "just" a mother. But a boy in a dress is exactly what they are. Note that I am not saying this in a hateful way, I think it's lovely that he enjoys wearing dresses, he is free to express himself how he wants. It doesn't change his sex though.

Tbhf · 11/11/2019 18:10

Oh no, what to........

A boy is conforming to the "norm" and wishes to express himself in a creative way

Therefore MNetters must MUST (I TELL YOU) kick off and blast anybody that disagrees with what they say!!

Drag is not about men/young boys performing in something other than trousers and wearing makeup (men have been wearing makeup since the 16th century and heals, in fact, heals were worn by men to ensure grip while riding horses), it is also about women wearing/performing as men! These are known as drag kings, they're not so heard of because it looks like the norm to most and is not questioned (because they just look androgynous) just accepted.

Just look at Annie Lennox for example

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 11/11/2019 18:16

Are we allowed biscuits? I feel like we're not allowed biscuits. But why?

MockersthefeMANist · 11/11/2019 18:21

It's well creepy. Hypersexualised cabaret for the entertainment of I don't know who. It would be just as bad if a 14 year old girl dressed up and performed like that.

Well, it is now, because women fought for the right to wear trousers - and actually plenty of women and girls still don't have that right in all circumstance.

All men and boys have to do is start wearing skirts more, and people will stop commenting on that too (much like no-one bats an eyelid at a scotsman in a kilt)

It does wind me up when people assume that women wearing trousers came easily. It was a fight.

Meercatsarecats · 11/11/2019 18:30

That dance at the end.
They could have got a girl who could actually sing and dance.
Or a boy.
So he is just a boy in a dress because the dress, or skin tight leotard on this case, is the most remarkable thing about him.
Why? And why the fuck are they showing this nonsense to our kids?

Meercatsarecats · 11/11/2019 18:32

Annie Lennox is not a drag king for God's sake.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 11/11/2019 18:34

Sure. Then there were the New Romantics. And Scotsmen still wear kilts, Arab men wear thobes and as you said, plenty of women wear suits.

So it’s pretty ridiculous that clothing should be a mark of whether someone’s female or male at all, really. Which begs the question of why ‘drag’ should even be a thing.

HandsOffMyRights · 11/11/2019 18:34

I also feel sorry for this boy.
Adults are capitalising from this.
Adults who have a responsibility to safeguard and protect children.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 11/11/2019 18:34

Yay! What's wrong with that?

Have you seen desmond is amazing?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/11/2019 18:34

And Kurt Cobain was trans. Didn’t you get the memo - retro-out people who obviously weren’t.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 11/11/2019 18:37

He explicitly says he is 'dressing as a woman'. Dd must be well confused. Not a gold lame purse in sight around these here parts.

BreakWindandFire · 11/11/2019 18:44

Yay! What's wrong with that?

Because it is an adult, sexualised form of entertainment.

Same as if you had a 14 year old girl on CBBC wearing nipple tassels and doing burlesque. Though you probably think that would be empowering , eh? Wink

theflushedzebra · 11/11/2019 18:45

Did someone on this thread just claim Annie Lennox is a drag king? Grin Grin Grin This could be a long night Wine

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 11/11/2019 18:46

Are we allowed biscuits? I feel like we're not allowed biscuits. But why

It’s ridiculous

A biscuit means ‘no comment’

What the bloody point in an emoji which means ‘no comment’ if you can’t use it as ‘no comment’

theflushedzebra · 11/11/2019 18:50

Drag is offensive to women - there are plenty of threads on here explaining why.

Drag kids - are actually a concern - because it involves a child - be they 9yrs old or 14 yrs - it involves a sexualised performance which children should not be part of.

This disturbing inclusion of young boys by adult men in drag acts should be ringing alarm bells that are deafening.

Stealthymcstealth · 11/11/2019 18:54

I don't understand how a child can be encouraged toward that level of gender choice, it's just so young.

My 4 year old recently picked out an Elsa dress for himself, I can't imagine seeing that as anything other than my child liking Elsa. He has shown no further interest in dresses but what if I had been so worried about not appearing transphobic that I actively encouraged him to wear more dresses, experiment with make up, consider puberty blockers when the time came? What if I was wrong and the implications that could of had?

How do you know when it is a child just being who they are or when it is a result of adult direction even well intentioned?

LangCleg · 11/11/2019 18:57

Just look at Annie Lennox for example

What has Annie Lennox got to do with the hypersexualisation of a young boy for profit?
