Interviewed by Julia Hartley-Brewer on Talk Radio from 9.35 am this morning. (Available on the Talk Radio app via 'schedule' then listen again).

The words Clare used were that the issue was being presented as 'dramatic' and 'overhyped' .

Julie brought up the Kent cricketer, Clare brought up Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps having bigger feet, a bigger wingspan and being taller, and that women were not the people who should be talking about it!!

Not enough eye rolls in the world.
Not en

Hopefully someone will produce a direct link at some point today.

Martina’s on board.

ChattyLion · 12/11/2019 09:05

Excellent! Flowers Martina is a total hero.

PermanentTemporary · 12/11/2019 09:07

Just hope John Inverdale steers clear tbh...

I keep getting Ellen de generus on my twitter feed (a rather cheesy tv show is just love you guys, here’s some money to pay for your liver transplant’) and I wonder what she and her missus have to say...

Bloody brilliant posts that Leonardo DiCaprio meme where he's raising a glass to camera

Trewser · 12/11/2019 10:48

CB sounded like an idiot.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 13/11/2019 00:37

I used to have a lot to do with her mother, in a professional capacity, and her father once perved at me at an industry dinner, though if the rumours are true (spoiler - they are!) I was by no means the first or last.

I once dined at the Jockey Club Rooms with him (and others) and can confirm that he perved at pretty much every woman under 35 in the room.

Trewser · 13/11/2019 07:50

I'm not sure slagging off CBs parents is helping anything. She sounded underinformed and purposely naive, but let's keep the criricism about what she said (deliberately nothing!)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/11/2019 08:17

She is maybe just trying to protect her bbc contract. Or she thinks this way. Either a coward or a thicky.

andyoldlabour · 13/11/2019 09:01

Some people will do anything for money.
Sad, but there you go.

EllieJayie · 13/11/2019 09:04

She once made fun of a jockeys teeth live on air, I've not liked her since.

I wonder if she is one of those women who feels comfortable in men's company and tends to despise women, even though she is sexually attracted to them.

A different context, but I always got the feeling that Stephen Whittle did not like women, even though he is married to one.

EllieJayie · 13/11/2019 11:09

I don't think she's all that attractive. Either way criticising another person's appearance (like I've just done Blush) isn't really on it is?

Sistercharlie · 13/11/2019 11:45

She shouldn't have said it but compared to the usual level of insults, ribbing and jibes flung about the weighing room, that comment was so mild it would barely register! Not smart to say it but it was more a case of one set of social mores not translating well to another, rather then her being deliberately mean ifyswim. In the jockeys world, personal insults are a sign of friendship and flattery. Hard to explain but if you walk in to the weighing room and no one insults you, then you know you are in trouble.

BeardedVulture · 13/11/2019 12:31

I'm not surprised. She's rich, she has a high profile job, and she has a reputation as a national treasure which she wants to protect. All of that shit comes before sticking her neck out for the lesbian community or female sportswomen.

OldCrone · 13/11/2019 12:53

I always got the feeling that Stephen Whittle did not like women, even though he is married to one.

I always got the feeling that Whittle's hatred of women is the reason for Whittle's strong desire to be a man.

Haworthia · 13/11/2019 12:58

I thought Clare Balding was too intelligent to wheel out the “But Michael Phelps has big feet!” argument.
