I've just seen this lovely bauble in a magazine and thought it would be much appreciated in this neck of the woods,

John Lewis has an aubergine bauble this year. I doubt most of their clientele will get the reference.

I’ll mention that I had to explain the common usage of the aubergine emoji to my husband and my teen son. Grin

This prompted a discussion with DH this morning about how these topical baubles are cultural ephemera and will be mystifying in 50 years, if people hand down their baubles. I have a subset of tree decorations which were my grandparents’ 1950s glass baubles, so I’m fully expecting to hand ours on. DH and I have decided to do a book with photos and provenance stories to go in our Christmas decs box, so future generations will have a clue.
