The right to have a child even if you don’t have a womb( because you’re a man) because it’s symbolic. It used to be comedy was “tragedy plus time”.but thusly would appear to be comedy plus time equals reality.

Shock that is scarily prescient.

BigFatLiar · 07/11/2019 17:26

One of my favourite films.

A clip that needs regular posting.

As does this one:

"which is nobody's fault, not even the Romans." Always loved that line. Grin

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 07/11/2019 19:50

Jelly it's nice that that one ends the way it should. Real life is not so obliging in this regard, I think...

Blasphemy!

Are there any women here today?

"No, no"

"That was a Party Political Broadcast by the Labour Party. And the LibDems. And the Green Party....."

Incredible to think that the Emily Howard sketch was only 10 years ago, in fact still going in 2011. How the hell has it changed so quickly?

Aaarrgghhh · 10/11/2019 19:08

Only watched this film at some point this year and loved every minute of it. I loved this scene in particular because of the way things are today, it’s crazy to think that in just a few years our language has been changed and saying only those born female are women and girls and not those born men is wrong now.

MockersthefeMANist · 10/11/2019 19:11

Before you sanctify the Pythons, remember Mandy's explanation of his conception to Brian:

  • Was it rape?
  • Well, at first, yeah.
MermaidUnicorn · 10/11/2019 20:02

I think about that scene a lot on the context of what's going on now. I always say you can learn everything about life fron two films: Life of Brian and This is Spinal Tap.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 10/11/2019 20:53

But she's responding to Brian's naive assumption that his mother would be at consent to random sex with a centurian there. That's a joke about him being so unworldly. Not a joke about rape.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 10/11/2019 20:54

would not* consent
