Lib Dems actively deterring GC women

Today I emailed the Lib Dems expressing an interest in joining their party.

I stated no one should receive discrimination or abuse for their transgender status but explained that I am GC and I asked if there was room for GC women in the party.

I received the following response:
Thank you for getting in touch. Whilst we appreciate your interest in joining, you should be aware that the Liberal Democrats are a trans inclusive party, and we have made it clear that we fully behind trans communities. As liberals we champion everyone’s right to live the life they want. By the sounds of your email it appears that your values are not aligned with ours so we are probably not the right the party for you.

I am flabbergasted. I didn't expect that I would have to believe that humans can change biological sex in order to be a member of the Lib Dems.

I am so disappointed. I was going to vote for them in the GE (passionate Remainer) but I cannot if this is their response.

There is no one to vote for. I am lost.

OMFG I have only just noticed this bit and am fucking FURIOUS now. I mentioned us being called cervix havers and other hate speech.

'Women who are not trans should not be attacked with the kinds of ridiculous language you have mentioned in your email. We cannot tolerate a situation where women are attacked and criticised for being born women. If I were ever to come across this kind of bigoted bullying, I would condemn it strongly and, if necessary take steps to report offenders.'

He has actually said women who are not trans. He SAID IT. FFS. Another email is now being sent.

Done. I wait for the Tory, Green and Lib Dem replies but I know that the Greens and Lib Dems will likely be even worse. The sitting Tory MP has been very on the ball in the past and I suspect is very GC.

How did we get here? Feeling really upset this morning. Sad

just looked it up - [email protected] if anyone else wants to send this link

I don’t have enough eyerolls for those Cardiff LibDem candidates’ tweets.

koshkat · 17/11/2019 12:05

What a pair of complete dicks they are. Jeez.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 17/11/2019 14:29

Sal Brinton was the one at the Fawcett Soc / 50-50 Parliament who said she’d be happy with an all male parliament if half of them identified as trans.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 17/11/2019 17:22

Who the hell do I vote for? The Tory, the misogynist or the anti semite?

BovaryX · 17/11/2019 18:12

Motherofsoupdragons,
Dunno. The answer seems so obvious. You know what I find incredible? Maybe the demonization of Conservatives needs to end. When you look at the alternatives

MotherOfSoupDragons · 17/11/2019 18:50

What is the obvious answer, Bovary? What do you find incredible? I don't agree that the Tories have been demonised any more than the other parties. Don't understand what your point is.

BovaryX · 17/11/2019 19:00

Who the hell do I vote for? The Tory, the misogynist or the anti semite?

You don’t agree they haven’t been demonized? But you think the word ‘Tory’ is an equivalent condemnation as ‘misogynist’ and ‘anti semite’?

RedToothBrush · 17/11/2019 19:02

Sal is one of the lead cheerleader as far as I can tell.

Conversations with sal seem to lead to conversion to the woo.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 17/11/2019 19:11

Absolutely no way am i voting Conservative, a Tory vote is going to be interpreted as pro-austerity and pro-brexit, no matter how many sternly worded GC letters one writes.

lionheart · 17/11/2019 20:16

Notice the GRA has nothing to do with access to bathrooms because that provision is covered by the EA...

Jux · 17/11/2019 20:20

I noticed that too, shame so many companies haven't been given that advice.

I signed but at the end it flashed straight to PayPal with a 25 quid payment - I hadn't ticked any box re donation, had said none at all as we are really short right now.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 18/11/2019 12:43

I signed but no funds to donate right now, I don't see that as a problem though.

RedToothBrush · 18/11/2019 13:34

I see petition has been started by Natalie Bird.

She was kicked out the radical association for being gender critical.

Jux · 19/11/2019 13:02

Not a problem, YourOpinion, just that no acknowledgement of having signed - straight to PayPal (already signed in too - that never happens, I have deliberately stopped PayPal from remembering me on every device I've ever used it on since I first started using PP about 12 years ago), so I don't know if I have actually signed or not, and I am not going back due to its apparent accessing of my PP details. Not happy.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 19/11/2019 13:14

Jux, are you sure it didn't have an acknowledgement of your signature on the PayPal page? Mine did, it was tiny though. Up at the top, I think.

Jux · 19/11/2019 13:31

Ah, might have! I was so freaked about being automatically being signed into PP when I never ever am that I didn't see or look.
