Such a betrayal of a colleague or of women in general.

They have a FB page.

In response, Mrs McCarthy-Calvert posted a photograph on Facebook of a negligee-clad woman somersaulting underwater, with the wording: ‘I am not a “cervix owner” I am not a “menstruator” I am not a “feeling”. I am not defined by wearing a dress and lipstick. I am a woman: an adult human female.’

Beneath it she wrote: ‘Women birth all the people, make up half the population, but less than a third of the seats in the House of Commons are occupied by us

She claimed women were accused of transphobia more than men, arguing men were not ‘subjected to cries of bigotry and transphobia when they say they don’t want to have sex with a woman with a penis’. Most trans-women have not had their male genitalia removed

*A Facebook follower accused her of using ‘absolutely disgusting language’, adding: ‘Also, you seem to be forgetting that not only women birth

YouJustDoYou · 03/11/2019 06:12

Does she not get it yet though?? We are not permitted to call.ourselves "women" anymore. We are "cervix havers".

This is both truly shocking and also scarily not surprising at the same time. It does sem this is the way its all going. A change that just happened and we are powerless to stop.

The "alternative" (I would have been classed as one) brigade around birth and wanting girls to see menstruation as normal or even positive/healthy has totally lost the plot. I was thrown out of a group and called a bigot for saying teen girls do not have penises and boys should not be at female-only meetings for teen girls to discuss their periods. I can well believe Rouka groups would be the same.

The reason is that these women are very very VERY often interested in being kind and caring as the ultimate goal and see conflict as a personal, even spiritual, failing. Even just in their own thought processes. So if a male says he's a female, they will be kind and caring and almost instinctually avoid conflict. Anybody who says otherwise is the one bringing conflict and should be excommunicated.

I see from the article in the Daily Mail that Cancer Research UK has dropped the word 'women' from its smear test campaign.

The Doula UK row started after Cancer Research UK dropped the word ‘women’ from its smear test campaign, instead saying screening was ‘relevant for everyone aged 25-64 with a cervix’.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7643251/Charity-hounds-birth-coach-post-saying-women-children.html

Only a biological woman has a cervix (as if that needs to be said). By implication, are they saying that a woman who doesn't have a cervix (because it has been removed for medical reasons) is less of a woman? But a man can have a cervix. Apparently.

HandsOffMyRights · 03/11/2019 09:19

I've emailed the PR Sarah at Doula UK [email protected]

I reminded them about biological reality because it was remiss of me to expect a child birthing organisation to know which sex gives birth.

I read it this morning. The most voted comments do tell something: TRAs and those who kowtow to their validation demands are peak transing the world at a very decent speed. I'm truly sorry some people are losing their jobs and positions in the process.

I know the Daily Mail is despised by many in the UK, but as a non Brit living in my little corner of the world, I truly like that DM seems to actually cover TRAs related issues.

BertieDrapper · 03/11/2019 18:06

I wondered if this article would be posted for discussion.

I was a client of Lynsey's a few years back and have followed this drama on her social media.

It is totally shocking that a previously well respected doula and supporter of women would be subjected to this all because she said "women give birth" 🙄

The abuse on the Doula Uk page is unreal!

Lynsey gave up her position because she was called a terf -- am I allowed to use that? - and other things by fellow Doulas but when she complained to Doula UK they did nothing..... ! As apparently abuse to someone who IDs as a women isn't against their policy....

Datun · 03/11/2019 18:45

It's just ridiculous. Their Facebook page are insisting that men give birth.

Apart from anything else, I will never, ever understand, how they can prioritise a tiny percentage of people over the rest of womankind?

Women are telling them, over and over how offensive and exclusionary this is. And they don't care. They are prioritising a tiny percentage of women.

Why?

picklemepopcorn · 03/11/2019 18:47

There are a couple of addresses on their website. [email protected] and [email protected] if I remember correctly.

FannyCann · 03/11/2019 20:14

It is extraordinary isn't it? Companies and organisations providing services and products exclusively for women roll over at the snap of a T R A fingers and do their bidding, totally pissing of their core customer base in the process. It's inexplicable.

I will never accept any HCP who uses "gender neutral" terminology in relation to my female body. They will be tartly reminded of basic biology.

Some of the stuff that is happening under the guise of inclusiveness makes me feel like IT Crowd's Denholm Renholm when he gets up and opens a high-rise window and walks out.

I assume similar changes will be made to prostate cancer awareness campaigns so transmen don't feel excluded. Hmm
