At a time when we need women in the House more than ever, Labour dilutes all-women shortlists to include men and female MPs are quitting because of sexism and abuse.

I despair.

Incredibly sad. I don't always agree with many of the women we are losing from front line politics but their presence and their voices were fundamental to a functioning democracy. How will the next generation aspire to this type of public service when they see talented women being driven out.

I listened to one politician today on 5 live about the impact on her of all the abuse she had faced. I found it distressing that this was occurring in a so-called civilised society. ☹

The number of female MPs who have decided not to stand again is utterly shocking. We have a toxic misogynist culture which is being allowed to flourish unchecked.

And whether you think TWAW or not, it is proving an excellent vehicle for indulging in really appalling hatred of women.
