So I spoke out, mildly, on a trans related thread on social media today. I’m not one to generally shy away from expressing myself but this is such an incendiary issue I mostly just don’t have the strength. Whatever I say I’ll be labelled a bigot!

I realised that despite knowing I’m comfortable in my views, I didn’t feel equipped to debate this issue well or really make a strong case - from a feminism point of view or a child protection one - despite many months of reading here and generally a good academic brain. I came here to catch myself up but it’s just vast.

I wonder if we could have a thread of good facts, information, stories from the news, YouTube videos etc etc - to help aid and educate anyone wanting to be better at expressing themselves on this topic? A primer of sorts. I want to stand up for what I believe in and I’m sure there’s many others who do too.

That's a great link, it helped me when I first came to FWR. I've commented a couple of times on that thread. Different username though.
I've found that the best thing to do is stick to the truth. Human beings cannot change sex. Nobody can be born in the wrong body. It's sex not gender. Sex is biological and gender is a social construct. Sex is observed at birth not assigned.
In 100 years time a skeleton will be correctly sexed.
Gender identity is not a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.
Sex is, gender reassignment is. Self identification is not legal in the U. K.

Welcome.

Here, this should be all you need:

Human beings cannot change sex.

Also, for a number of “this never happens” examples of male perps, look at womenarehuman.com

I’d recommend Magdalen Bern videos on YouTube.

I used to debate a lot on FB. I was there for the lurkers really. I would get LOADS of likes but few others would post in agreement which I found annoying but I understand. In the end I came away as I found it emotionally draining. Plus I started getting PMs and I got reported to FB.
I found the best policy is to simply state “but X is not true/a lie”
And to ask them to define woman which they never ever can.
Also asking for evidence. So eg one particularly nasty debate involved the existence of breastfeeding males and I asked for examples of ACTUAL breastfeeding males and of course there were none.
But generally keep it simple.

I like facts (and careful use of language) so tend to point out that this is a case of a group of aggressive men demanding women’s rights.

I also like to understand the legalities. This WPUK page has a useful summary including the case law showing without a GRC, a male remains a man in terms of the EA.

In addition, I like to point out that women have the right to be imprisoned with only women under international human rights laws and that this is being flouted.
