Child concern - a charity

Hey, just wondering if anyone has heard of this charity? From their website:

"Child Concern is a registered non-profit making charity, established in 1990 and based in the North West. Our objects are to work to further and improve the knowledge and practice of all persons involved and interested in the law and practice relating to children and children’s issues."

I'm just curious about how influential an organisation they are and what they actually do after reading on twitter that their annual conference this year was about gender identity and included Stephen Whittle as a guest speaker.

Inviting Stephen Whittle to speak tells me all I need to know about Child Concern. It should be closed down as it undoubtedly supports transing children.

You know, I feel like I pretty much always need to know more about an org than including (or 'platforming') a single guest speaker before declaring it should be shut down. Particularly as this is a person with whom I disagree but who has a valuable perspective that must be heard, alongside competing and conflicting perspectives, if we are ever to puzzle through this mess together as a society.

I think it's important to resist the temptation to be kneejerk.

Mr Whittle will be along to correct any wrong think and then make up some false stats. It is as if the truth won't further his cause. I've heard everything I need from Mr Whittle to know that we are on opposing sides and he isn't interested in listening so happy to reciprocate.

That's the vaguest mission statement I have ever seen.
