www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7589655/Former-Army-private-longed-woman-fast-tracked-surgery-regretting-operation.html

I apologize for the Daily Mail link, but fact of the matter is that the "respectable" newspapers are all far to fake-woke to write about these kinds of things.

OP posts:

Peter believes the confusion which led to his transition stemmed from a secret 'addiction' to cross-dressing, a fetish which started in adolescence

AGP, again.

Nondescriptname · 19/10/2019 12:41

'My late wife used to dress me as Marks & Spencer man.'

Seriously. He took no responsibility for his own clothes and appearance??

CadburysTastesVileNow · 19/10/2019 13:38

So he was asked to live full-time as a woman for a MONTH, and after doing that was v quickly approved for surgery. Then fast-tracked:

'With the waiting list so long, however, the NHS paid £10,000 to fast-track Peter's operation at a private hospital in London, rather than be fined for his waiting time going over the 18-week threshold.'

18 weeks!

No problems getting hold of electrolysis, but found it too painful to bother with.

How long do actual women wait for surgery? How long do they wait for electrolysis?

The poor man (not misgendering him - that's how he sees himself) was in the throes of bereavement and depression as well as battling alcohol dependency, yet he was fast-tracked.

Duty of care? Safeguards? Do they not matter anymore?

CadburysTastesVileNow · 19/10/2019 14:18

Internet chatrooms taught him the script to deny all those issues when assessed, is what I gather from the article

truthisarevolutionaryact · 19/10/2019 14:23

That is a very good article. And the comments are (mainly) respectful and make the connection between his experience and the way children are currently being groomed into this.

Poor guy. It was also interesting to read that he was constantly on the lookout for transphobia when trying to present as a woman, including making complaints about misgendering. I think that there are a number of trans people who are trying to shut down the voices in their own heads that this may not have been the best idea. The point is that other than in a minute handful of cases, the surgery and the clothes etc will make no difference. Everyone will still see you as your birth sex and the best you can hope for is to aggressively force them to pretend. But that’s the point- even the woke allies are pretending. They know and you know that you’re not a real woman/man. Which is why it feels like violence when you’re reminded of that- way way more so than when other minority groups are discriminated against. Racism and homophobia are terrible but their victims don’t tend to threaten suicide. It’s more that some people are arseholes for refusing to accept certain groups. But with GC women in particular, they aren’t doing that- they’re just refusing to buy into your lie, which is why that seems to be reacted to much more viscerally.

Fieldofgreycorn · 19/10/2019 16:59

The medical profession really needs to think again about how they consider people for this treatment. Particularly when the history is basically middle aged hetero cross dresser with serious comorbid mental health issues.

I have a hormonal issue and have been told I can’t get electrolysis on the NHS at all. But I’m just one of those boring plain old women who has awful depression because of it. They did offer to double my dose of antidepressants instead!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/10/2019 18:59

Nobody is well served by cases like this being handled this way. Not the individual, who would have been better off with bereavement counseling and honest discussion of his fetish. Not the other patients whose surgeries are put on the backburner because apparently trans related surgeries are more of a priority than just about anything else. Not the NHS that's now going to have to cover whatever treatment is needed to fix the treatment that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Not the women who this individual was shouting at about "misgendering", or the ones who had to share spaces with him. Not anyone who he talked to during that period and convinced to follow the same path.

It's like a row of dominoes, each individual bad decision pushing the next one, then the next one, then...

AncientLights · 19/10/2019 19:27

I had to wait 23 weeks for an operation this year, as did everybody awaiting that op at that hospital. I have no idea if they were fined for it. I asked to have it done on the NHS at a private hospital but was refused. How come these people are so special?

JoyceJeffries · 19/10/2019 19:46

I don’t think any operations needed to “transition” should be funded by the NHS. Same with the hormones.

InionEile · 19/10/2019 20:03

I can’t understand why men with a fetish feel such shame that they would rather go through surgery and painful treatments and drugs than just be honest with everyone that they enjoy the kink of dressing in feminine clothing. It’s not an unusual fetish and men who indulge in it are harming no- one.

Men who insist that they are women just because they like to wear lipstick and fishnets are harming the rest of us, however, by pushing for self-ID and access to women’s spaces so they can experience the ultimate thrill of society buying into the lie that they are ‘women’.

june2007 · 19/10/2019 20:24

He was obviously confused, depressed, berieved and alcohol dependent. But rather adress these issues they fast tracked his op. At least he saw the light having an op doesn't change your gender.
