Stonewall having pushed to record any disagreement with their narrative as a hate crime (e.g. saying woman = adult human female) and trained police forces to record this 'crime' are now banging on about the shocking rise in transphobic hate crime. No doubt the solution to this will be more public money for them to 'educate' us and a urgent need for new laws to criminalise the guilty.

Other forms of hate crime are rising faster and impacting many many more people. The rise in recorded transgender hate crime is the lowest of all recorded categories and is the lowest overall in numbers. And is probably accounted for by an increase in reporting rather than an actual real increase (according to the government analysis).

Link to report hate crime data

By contrast it is an outrage that misogyny and Male violence against women is still not recorded as a hate crime. Now that data would be useful for policy makers.

As predicted. A rise in hate crime.

I really don’t understand why violence against women isn’t recorded as a hate crime? If hate crime is crime motivated by someone having a certain Equality Act Protected Characteristic (race/sexual orientation etc) then why not apply it to all of them and include sex (and age, for that matter).

I heard this on my way in from work. BBC news announced that racist hate crime accounted for ?3/4 of all hate crime, who did they ask to talk about the report? Yep you’ve guessed it Stonewall, that well know BME pressure group!

*Race not racist

The 2017-18 data is here but I'm on my phone and can't open to paste screenshots.

We have an increase in hate crimes here in the US too. The four groups at highest at risk are in order:
Jewish people
Native American people
Black/African American people
Homosexual people

Megthehen · 17/10/2019 07:06

imagine if we all reported all of the overtly misogynistic hate crimes we have experienced or seen to the Police..system collapse anyone. Although didn't the Nottingham Police start to do this? Not sure how that went?

here we go - not sure why researchers were shocked by the levels of misogyny?

PreseaCombatir · 17/10/2019 08:07

I’d rather do away with the concept of hate crimes altogether, they’re essentially thought crimes.
If you stab someone it shouldn’t matter if you stabbed them because of the colour of their skin, or because you had an argument over something.
It should only matter if the intention was to stab them or not.
Saying that, if we are going To maintain the concept of hate crimes, it’s incredible misogyny isn’t included, but hardly surprising, as many seem to think woman have too many rights as it is 🙄

Themyscira · 17/10/2019 08:10

If misogyny was a hate crime porn and prostitution would be illegal, and the Johns at the top can't be having that, now can they

Themyscira · 17/10/2019 08:14

@PreseaCombatir

14th rule of misogyny: Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent.
