From what I gather, 'Fabulous' is the magazine that comes with Sun on Sunday. I assume this is appearing in the current edition.

Exactly Captain

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 13/10/2019 11:28

It's why talking to people about what is happening is important, it's something everyone can do it's not wrong or illegal to talk about this.

OrchidInTheSun · 13/10/2019 11:48

That's a great article.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 13/10/2019 12:32

The disconnect between the public and the power is really jarring with this isn't it

Yes, it is. I understand what you are saying about talking to other people in real life about it. The problem for me is that every single time I've spoken to people in real life they already agree that transwomen are not women and that they shouldn't be allowed in women's spaces. They already agree that transing children is abusive and should be banned. They already agree that most teenagers caught up in this are the latest variant on 'teenagers caught up in social contagion' and akin to anorexics, self harmers etc.

The only time I haven't had complete agreement is when writing to politicians, councils, organisations.

I guess I just live in the land of the terminally 'unwoke'. I'm starting to think that's a blessing.

littlbrowndog · 13/10/2019 12:56

Captain no one I know thinks that men can turn into women and men can be in women’s sports

How ar3 the elites so out of touch with real people

Is it a power thing ?

FleetsumNJetsum · 13/10/2019 12:58

World cycling champ Dr Rachel McKinnon is a former Olympic medallist, but she has regularly come under fire because she is trans

"former Olympic medallist"???

Correct me if I am wrong, but...nope

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 13/10/2019 13:02

No, McKinnon is not an Olympian, much less an Olympic medallist.

McKinnon is a mediocre male 'athlete'.

AnyOldPrion · 13/10/2019 13:03

Maybe identifies as one Fleet.

Let’s face it, anyone who can argue that you don’t hit a tennis ball with your penis, when it’s your tennis balls that are the crotch of the problem is not someone whose word we should rely on.

ScapaFlo · 13/10/2019 13:44

And they don't come under fire because they're trans, they come under fire because of their appalling hideous behaviour.

NotAtMyAge · 13/10/2019 15:52

That's probably the best newspaper article I've read on transwomen in women's sport, clear, unbiased and well-researched. If only the Guardian could do journalism of this quality on this subject....

tiktok · 14/10/2019 22:03

I’m glad this article is getting noticed - Fabulous magazine has dealt with the TW issue a few times, and far better than other parts of the press. Hope they correct the caption about RM being an Olympian (as if), but the rest is great. Sets out the facts in a way that anyone sensible would understand it’s all mad 😡😡😡

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 14/10/2019 22:13

I don't think they are out of touch as such, as they know full well what the public think.

It's a weird controlled breakdown of rights.

tiktok · 14/10/2019 23:29

I agree, Captain. This issue is still flying under the radar. When people understand it, they often don’t believe how serious it is.

Bows85 · 15/10/2019 20:42

Good article. Thanks for posting. We need more women’s magazines to point up the unfairness in this whole thing.

Babdoc · 16/10/2019 08:31

Floisme, don’t criticise the left of centre media- the Communist newspaper the Morning Star is utterly gender critical, pro feminist and science based in its reporting.
They come from a position of seeing class and sex based oppression for what they are. They completely “get” that if anyone can be a woman, there are no more women’s rights, or any way to identify sex based oppression.
Of all the media outlets, I’d say they are the clearest on the issue. And I say it somewhat grudgingly, as I’m a Tory!

Floisme · 16/10/2019 08:48

Fair point Babdoc

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 16/10/2019 09:07

Other than crediting McKinnon with far more than they've actually achieved it's a pretty solid article and a good intro for those new to the issue.
