I can't argue with what she says. I want to keep some toilets single sex too.

TemporaryPermanent · 10/10/2019 00:43

I have rarely seen such an egregious example of missing the point. What utter shit.

There's nothing to stop her trans friends holding her hair while she pukes or putting on make up with her, or chatting about sex. Tbh theres nothing to stop her male friends doing it either, except sexist fucking stereotypes.

At least she does put some stuff in about girls needs in school. But equating girls and women's right to privacy away from male bodies with the need to have girly chats in a tight dress? Why do you need a female body for that?

TimeLady · 10/10/2019 05:42

Horses for courses, let's not shoot the messenger. . She's trying to get the point across to an average DM reader and I thought she did it rather well.

ShouldBeCookingDinner · 10/10/2019 06:06

That was about as deep as could be expected...I'm just happy she's spoken up in favour of single sex toilets.

TottieandMarchpane · 10/10/2019 06:14

Whenever I’ve seen clips of Piers Morgan dissecting the trans madness (somewhat rantily admittedly), she sits there contradicting him. So she’s a bit late to the party and with doubtful credibility.

Many, many more credible women have been saying this all along. I suppose the coverage helps, though.

RadicalStitch · 10/10/2019 06:39

I like this article. It doesn't have to deal with all the issues, although I'm sure she knows them. The fact that women don't want to share bathrooms with men, regardless of how they identify is enough,

Qcng · 10/10/2019 07:21

I actually quite like the article. Her point is basically, keep ladies and men's separate loos and have some that are gender neutral. I have no idea why The Old Vic didn't even consider this.

They must have been advised by that bloke who fixed the gender consultation by burning all the replies he didn't like.

DickKerrLadies · 10/10/2019 07:25

Her point is basically, keep ladies and men's separate loos and have some that are gender neutral.

Wow! What an original idea! If only we had thought of that one...

Unfortunately for Susanna, 'third spaces' are totes transphobic, as we've been told.

Qcng · 10/10/2019 07:39

The only argument they have for "third spaces" being transpho ic is because they think "we" (the nasty hive mind of evil terfs) mean a third space specifically only for people who are trans and that means trans people will have to "out" themselves by using them (because we can't tell by looking at them, oh no!). They don't think it through and realise everyone and anyone can use the gender neutral space, your mum, grandad, anyone, and trans people.
It's so tiring.

They campaign for gender neutral, then accuse us of transphobia for suggesting gender neutral options.

boatyardblues · 10/10/2019 08:21

They don't think it through and realise everyone and anyone can use the gender neutral space, your mum, grandad, anyone, and trans people.

Trans allies and all those men and women who say they aren’t bothered could also use the third space as a show of support. It would ensure the GN loos were just seen as a neutral third option that anyone can use. It would probably be popular with opposite sex parents accompanying older children/those with learning disabilities etc.

happydappy2 · 10/10/2019 08:30

I think anyone who dares speak in favour of single sex loos in the current climate deserves a thank you-many readers will completely relate to what she is saying.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 10/10/2019 08:38

Qcng

I'm going to disagree with you. I think they know perfectly well that anyone could use mixed sex facilities, their concern is that women won't use them because they know perfectly well that women don't want to be around AGP men and the most mouthy trans privilege activists are AGP.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 10/10/2019 08:38

She's trying to get the point across to an average DM reader

The average DM reader is already leaps ahead on this topic.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/10/2019 08:52

For those who go regularly the announcement that the theater had doubled the number of women's loos followed by the realization that they'd actually reduced the total to zero must be a bit "the brass neck on these fuckers". Methinks they miscalculated there.

charlestonchaplin · 10/10/2019 08:56

There's nothing to stop her trans friends holding her hair while she pukes or putting on make up with her, or chatting about sex. Tbh theres nothing to stop her male friends doing it either, except sexist fucking stereotypes.

Maybe she doesn’t want to do those things in the presence of males. She isn’t used to doing those things in the presence of males because that’s how society (all societies, as far as I’m aware), have been organised. That small matter of privacy and dignity. It’s not the strongest argument against single-sex loos but it has to be asked whether assuaging the feelings of a small number of ‘transwomen’ (I guess what they see as their privacy and dignity) is worth changing the whole way our society is organised and sacrificing women’s privacy and dignity.

charlestonchaplin · 10/10/2019 09:01

So she’s a bit late to the party and with doubtful credibility.
I’m surprised to hear this from her. I suspect she doesn’t know how badly this will go down and that she’ll be branded transphobic. She seems to be a person who avoids controversy, but I hope the article will do some good regardless.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/10/2019 09:04

If she gets the predictable scorched earth response TRAs give when a woman they thought they had under control says something offscript then that may well peak trans her. She wouldn't be the first.

Qcng · 10/10/2019 11:25

I think they know perfectly well that anyone could use mixed sex facilities, their concern is that women won't use them

Oh, absolutely. But they can't say that because that would give the game away.

What TRAs are obviously campaigning for is removing women's right to same sex spaces. But they can't admit it. They just scream "transphobia" while they make everything mixed sex to the detriment of women in the name of "inclusivity".

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 10/10/2019 13:32

Yes, they want to remove any possibility of women not partaking of their fetish.

Of course it won't work. If they remove all single sex spaces women will just socialise in private, in one another's homes. This is bad for women, forcing us out of the public sphere, but AGPs will still not get their wish, they still won't be accepted. I've already seen this happen with a book group.

zen1 · 10/10/2019 13:39

^If she gets the predictable scorched earth response TRAs give when a woman they thought they had under control says something offscript then that may well peak trans her. She wouldn't be the first.

Let’s hope so, but equally be one of those who feels obliged to ‘qualify’ her views to appease those outraged.
