This is a very good video from Plan - a charity that is explicitly aimed at helping girls worldwide (and I believe it knows what a girl is too, none of the self-identified claptrap).

It plays on stats in CCP's book and bring them to life in just 90 seconds.

Well it helps children worldwide

But its good that they know what a girl is and can aim specific help when necessary

AnyOldPrion · 09/10/2019 11:16

Just checked out their inclusivity section. All about including children with disabilities.

Sounds like a good inclusivity section

Shame that Plan refers to girls and women as menstruators.

DodoPatrol · 09/10/2019 13:04

Where did they do that, Miscocker? I can only see them discussing 'children, especially girls', 'women and girls' etc on their website.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 09/10/2019 13:13

I support Plan on a monthly basis and I have never noticed any nonsense. Doesn't mean it isn't there. But I am quite...vigilant.

Glenthebattleostrich · 09/10/2019 13:22

Plan are one of the charities I support each month. Their response to abuse allegations was in stark contrast to other organizations in that they immediately acted, investigated and were completely open about it.

I love that they focus not only on helping girls, but also on educating communities because let's be honest, the girls they help have to be allowed into school etc and it's generally men who decide if that is ok.

I've never seen women referred to as menstruators though, do you have a link as I think this is a charity who would listen to its supporters.

AnyOldPrion · 09/10/2019 13:32

Is Plan a Norwegian group? If so, bear in mind that any nonsense such as menstruators might have been added by stupidly woke translators.

AnyOldPrion · 09/10/2019 13:40

I see it’s not Norwegian. However a search on their site for “menstruators” came up with a number of articles about women and girls. Didn’t seem wokified to me.

DryHeave · 09/10/2019 13:51

Powerful and important. Women’s biological differences are the basis of our oppression.

MoltenLasagne · 09/10/2019 13:55

Plan take specific action to help keep girls in school once they start menstruating so I can see how that could be a useful way of differentiating between access to education for all girls, and specific steps needed to keep girls in education once they have started periods.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 09/10/2019 13:58

Yes - "Menstruating girls" is very different to "menstruators"

I supported Plan UK for over 15 years. Stopping my direct debit was not something I took lightly but I will not support any charity that refers to us as menstruators. And, yes, I did contact them but they are still using the word eg:

www.plan-uk.org/blogs/what-makes-a-period-a-healthy-period

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 10/10/2019 20:06

I do see the word and it does piss me off. But I also see the word 'girls' 10 times on that page.

I have a feeling I wrote to Plan about this last year and their response was very 'your feedback is so helpful' in a way that made me wonder if they are under a lot of pressure and having evidence of concerns from the other side was helpful?

Goosefoot · 10/10/2019 22:27

I don't really think that "menstruators" is a problem when it has no agenda attached to it and it's actually talking about menstruation specifically. It's awkward, but I'd not avoid supporting a charity because of awkward prose.

7Days · 10/10/2019 22:32

I would doubt that the wokerati are very influential in the countries that Plan operate in.

Even if Plan have to use specific words as cover to avoid being shot at, I would let them away with it, tbh. Head down, do their important work.

Gingerkittykat · 11/10/2019 02:37

I took the quiz and the tagline at the end is listen to girls and other menstruators.
