Anyone watched this? It is based on a story I was familiar with. I thought it was a really good dramatisation. Toni Collette is in it and she is a fantastic actress. I think it would be thought provoking for people who believe the "false accusation" narrative

It's a true life story I should have said

Might watch it just because I love Toni Collette.

It’s fantastic, and kind of reminds me of the poor girl on trial re the “alleged” gang rape in Cyprus. Terrifying, not only is rape pretty much legal, but if you speak up, you might find yourself charged.

Binged watched it this weekend. It was a hard watch but compelling. Toni Collete was good but I thought the best acting came from the girl who played Marie, and the other cop Karen Duvall played by Merritt Weaver. The contrast in the first two episodes as to how the victim's were treated so differently made me cry.

Trewser · 03/10/2019 16:59

I thought Marritt Weaver was outstanding. Also the girl who played the second rape victim. I thought Toni colette was good but a bit starry.

It was fabulous to see such a woman focused, intelligent drama.

I'm only on the third episode and I am finding it pretty hard going tbh.

I will finish it though.

Loved it, amazing acting by everyone and such a sad case

Binge watched this last week. It was a very hard but necessary watch, cried my eyes out quite few times. As one of the pp said, the difference in how 2 victims were treated was heartbreaking. There is a scene where Toni Colette goes off on one after the group meeting with an FBI guy saying where is his outrage that really resonated.

OhHolyJesus · 04/10/2019 15:44

I'm also really enjoying this, two kick arse female detectives, Toni Collette's rant asking "where is the outrage" from the men not reacting to the horrific rape details.

I think it's obvious how the first victim, Marie is treated badly by two Male cops compared to how the women help and support the victims. It shows the difference, the dismissal and lack of trust from the men really clearly. It makes me think all sexual assaults need to be dealt with by women, however general and stereotypical that thought may be!
