Some athletes have complained and the shots have been restricted. All we've seen so far is the front camera with the athlete's face. Quite why we want to watch the athlete's arse is debatable.

This is apparently nothing whatever to do with detecting false starts, just making it more 'interesting.'

Me Whatshisknickers has spent the whole championship so far ranting about these cameras.

Can't say as I disagree with him.

...so it is not quite as bad as I thought. The two cameras are both in the front of the starting block. One faces forwards and shows the athlete running away. The other points upwards and shows the concentration on the faces in the set position, but can also record the athletes as they settle into their blocks. Only used in the 100m and sprint hurdles.

Still asking for a big lump of blu-tak on it IMO.
