I had a spat in TwitterLand with someone who added me to some T**F list. Now my account has been suspended due to a tweet about two weeks old. Fine. I've appealed the suspension.

Has anyone had the same? How long does an appeal take on average?

Pretty fucked off to be honest Angry

Twitter is very inconsistent with this stuff.
I expect eventually your appeal will be rejected, could take a couple of days, others take weeks. No person will have looked at it, it will just be an automated response.
Your best bet will be to appeal via the Better Business Bureau (wait until your Twitter appeal fails). I know a few who have done this and most have had the suspension overturned (the only ones that seem to fail are those who were running multiple accounts).

My account's suspended, but to log an appeal I need to give them a phone no. which I'm not doing due to a load of dodgy calls last time I gave Twitter my number.
I was going to buy a cheap PAYG phone, but CBA now as you only have to state biological reality and the TRAs are piling on.

I've heard of some appeals taking months or in some cases no response at all.

Likewise, there are successful ones, but we all know how Twitter is weighted.

Thanks for replies. I've heard about the Better Business. Didn't have to give my number for appeal? Not sure if I've ever given it to Twitter tbh? Will look out for dodgy calls though so thanks for the heads up.

Give them a number that is not connected to you. My account uses a work one (mostly cos when I used my own house number the auto calls from them did not arrive)

Creepster · 29/09/2019 23:17

I got 12 hours on the naughty step over two or three comments. I disputed. About four days later I was told only one comment violated the rules so if I remove it I can come off the naughty step. Oddly enough it was the comment that quoted statistics from the Justice Department.

Creepster · 29/09/2019 23:18

They wanted my phone number too. I refused.

It's frighteningly ludicrous.

You don't need to buy a second phone. Just take the simcard out of your usual phone and replace it temporarily with a PAYG sim.

Most mobile companies hand out free PAYG sim cards now, so you just need to check which one allows you to load the smallest amount of cash to the simcard to activate it. Iceland had a raft of assorted free PAYG cards last time I looked.

If you have several sites demanding a verification phone number you can get them all sorted at the same time, before the fiver you loaded to activate the burner card has a chance to expire. Then just replace your original simcard and thumb your nose at the pushy bastards.

Do go via the BBB! This is how I got my account back since Twitter support seems to be largely automated. It took about 3-4 days after sending the BBB form. Be polite and contrite even if you're thinking Twitter are idiots.

I know of some, and one recent case, where appeals have failed due to them being stupid enough to be open about having a second, third, or whatever account (as in, on the account itself), and then go about moaning they've been banned. Well, yeah. That's kindov dumb. Lay low and focus on getting your main account back. Unless you've said anything really, really questionable it should be fine!

I'm still waiting on my appeal. It honestly says " you could use the toilets of your sex ie male" to a tra who at first said WPUK were trying to stop trans people having jobs. When I asked why, they said it was because they couldn't go to the toilet!!! By their logic if self id came into law then muslim women couldn't have jobs, so whose rights should come first
