I’m offering this without comment, mainly because my jaw is still on the floor.

I’m just wondering if the reason Jonny came out of nowhere is that he’s benefited from a little light nepotism

It’s always my first thought when a WTF contract is awarded

SunsetBeetch · 30/09/2019 13:31

Well. Anyone delivering training to children and young people, especially sex education, should have a background that is transparent and beyond reproach. So I'm even more concerned now.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 30/09/2019 13:38

Yeah, I mean let’s look at it this way

It may be that he isn’t the sort of person whose driving agenda is to teach 13 year olds about fisting and coprophilia

Maybe he’s just insufficiently qualified to pick up on the massive red flags around people encouraging him to produce materials that do that

Hang on.....that’s not much better is it?

OrchidInTheSun · 30/09/2019 13:39

This is about Jonny from the DM: "After he visited Holland in 2012, the council bought Spring Fever, a Dutch sex education programme for four to 11-year-olds which provided the blueprint from which he helped develop the All About Me lesson plans."

and this is from Etty's blog:
"In 2011 the Respect Yourself team and 20 frontline workers took a study tour to the Netherlands, where we witnessed the benefits of adopting the evidence based sex positive approach that worked so well in Holland."

So either the DM got the dates slightly wrong and they went together, with Jonny getting the All About Me contract plus contributions to Respect Yourself or Jonny went first (on Warwick's dime natch) and loved it so much that they sent Etty, her team, and 20 other people to go and find out what he did.

I wonder how much all this cost

SirVixofVixHall · 30/09/2019 13:41

Interesting. Could he be Etty’s son ?

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/09/2019 13:49

I’d really like to know more about Dutch sex education. I’ve heard good things. Very matter of fact, not laughing, icky etc. But I am struggling to think it’s actually like this.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 30/09/2019 13:51

I just don’t see the benefit of speaking to teenagers about coprophilia, even if it’s a roaring success in Holland

Someone’s going to need to explain to me in words of 1 syllable why it’s necessary or good

Datun · 30/09/2019 14:00

Or frotteurism, unless it's to acknowledge that it constitutes sexual harassment, is a crime, should be reported immediately if it happens to you, and you are a sex offender if you're making it happen to someone else.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 30/09/2019 14:02

The All About Me stuff has gone from their website but the Respect Yourself stuff is still there with all the liberating bukake and an entry on 'bucket' in which it talks about having a 'bucket fanny'. Which was nice.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 30/09/2019 14:03

Or actually many of these things because, Overton window n'all.

But, y'know, wankers gotta wank.

I suspect this is a very twisted paedophiles wet dream version of what is actually taught there, which would be plan basic facts and definitions, not graphic misrepresentations.

There isn’t much evidence that differences in outcomes are down to the education though. If there’s less ‘laughing, Icky etc’ it’s because attitudes and maturity levels are different to begin with, not so much differences in the content of the education.

Dutch society is in some ways more conservative, more religious and more family orientated. It’s also more equal. (There are also significant differences in benefits structure but I don’t want to sound like the Daily Mail).

SirVixofVixHall · 30/09/2019 14:19

“Young men, and young women” i think you mean boys and girls Jonny. CHILDREN .

IfNot · 30/09/2019 14:23

Why would 4-11 year olds need "sex education" anyway?
They just need to know private parts are private, to tell someone if an adult touches them where they shouldn't, and the basics of where babies come from and what periods are.
Why would they need to know any more than that? Who says they should?

littlebrown Sex positive was, I think, originally meant to mean not presenting sex as something shameful or embarrassing. I'm pretty sure it didn't mean telling little kuds that porn is empowering and that eating shit is fun. Confused

TruthOnTrial · 30/09/2019 14:37

I have done psychological observation studies, and I can't say I was impressed with his contribution to the youtube vido, for various reasons. Did notice eye contact, when compared with others in same conditions. Something disconcerting I thought.

Fieldofgreycorn · 30/09/2019 14:38

That’s what they’re taught in Holland. At the older end of that they will also need to know about the existence of contraception.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 30/09/2019 14:44

the basics of where babies come from and what periods are

believe it or not, it's optional for schools to teach primary aged children about menstruation

baffling huh?

HandsOffMyRights · 30/09/2019 14:47

On Jonny's blogs he talks about RSE and the Equality Act. He lists the protected characteristics, conveniently replacing sex with gender.

What are your sexual values?

Certainly not putting my fist up somebody's anus or eating poo.

Some upcoming training dates in Leamington Spa. Imagine what Jonny says to trainees

"Can anybody tell me what felching is? I bet your year 8s ask you about this all the time!"

Jonny is also presenting at this London event in November:

Cuntysnark · 30/09/2019 16:36

I wonder if anyone local would like to stand outside Pound Lane with placards?

Dontgobacktorockville · 30/09/2019 16:36

Is the local paper not interested in any of this? It makes me so angry that sexual fetish which mainly seems to degrade women is being presented as some sort of norm.
