I'm posting here for traffic because I have no idea where it ought to go; please forgive me if that's wrong and point me to the right place!

This blogpost explains it pretty well, with the final sentence summing up much how I feel:

"This is like chemistry innovation funding phlogiston, or medical innovation funding anti-vaccine activism."

I don't want my donations for children's rights and children in need to go to funding bitcoin operators!

No worries. I'm as baffled as you are as to why UNICEF thinks bitcoin needs their help.

WTAF. Who does UNICEF answer to?

Wikipedia says "A 36-member executive board establishes policies, approves programs and oversees administrative and financial plans. The executive board is made up of government representatives who are elected by the United Nations Economic and Social Council, usually for three-year terms."

Maybe now is the time to make a fuss to the UN itself, so that the next executive board is elected with "not spending children's money on dodgy people" as part of its business? Only I don't know how to go about that.

I don't want to stop giving money towards vaccines for children, and educational supplies, and shelter for families, and all the other good stuff that UNICEF does. I thought I could trust them more than most charities, but it looks horribly as if I can't.
