“Woman” convicted of sexually assaulting teen girl (“she” was apparently masturbating in front of “her” victim)

I don’t know how to post a link from Twitter so I’ve screenshot this ... utterly crazy that anyone buys into this nonsense. And in fact I don’t think people do buy into it. But institutions seem to have done so and that leaves individuals powerless to object as they fear for their jobs, and thanks to the aggression of TRAs, their safety in general.

I peak transed a long time ago thanks to this board. And I’d like to speak out more - but truthfully, I’m a single parent and I don’t want to put myself in harm’s way for fear of my DC, and I lack the support (ie childcare) to head off on demos etc. What can I do?

I notice someone has commented on the tweet thus:

"You must have lead a sheltered life. Have you never met a butch cis-woman. And what about Myra Hindley, or that mother who was enabling Ian Watkins' rape of a baby? Is that similarly the "nature" of women? Try not to be a bigiot"

Do you think the person who wrote that really believes it?

RoyalCorgi · 19/09/2019 14:29

And this:

"Trans-women are legally, medically, and culturally women. The vast majority of experts agree, but I guess you think your ignorant prejudice trumps that learned knowledge, eh?"

Vast majority of experts. Hmm

Fucks sake...Angry

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/09/2019 14:59

When a news org includes a photo with a story like that they're doing it because they're not allowed to tell you the perp is a man.

GenderfreeJoe · 19/09/2019 15:01

Our eyes do not deceive us. And medically it's not possible for a transwoman to be a woman.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/09/2019 15:05

WTF is culturally a woman anyway?

MrGHardy · 19/09/2019 16:32

Thousands of years of evolution to tell males from females is now 'ignorant prejudice'?

Cuckoo

JoyceJeffries · 19/09/2019 16:50

Stunning and brave.

StopThePlanet · 19/09/2019 17:10

Must be a joke, it would never happen.

vesuvia · 19/09/2019 19:41

"Trans-women are legally, medically, and culturally women"

Legally only if the transgender person has the necessary legal documentation.

happydappy2 · 19/09/2019 20:18

Legal documentation does not change biology though, or the truth we can see with our eyes.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 19/09/2019 21:02

I don't know why, but whenever I see photos like this linked to stories like this, the phrase that comes into my head is: You ain't no Muslim, bruv.

teawamutu · 20/09/2019 07:02

Janice Turner tweeted about this and more or less said the same about the choice to publish pictures with the story. Replies were excellent.

OhHolyJesus · 20/09/2019 07:14

@HelloYouTwo there's loads you can do, I call or desktop activism as like you I can't head off to marches, much as I'd like to.

I wrote to my MP a LOT, you can complete the surrogacy consultation in about 10 mins using the Nordic model guidance. You can also write to complain about the consultation not being comprehensive or fit for purpose. You can submit freedom of information requests and write to your local media. Are you with ReSisters or a local GC group? As I can't get out to meet up with other women I find this online support (and MN) really helpful. I donate where I can also but even getting 'sex' to replace 'gender' where you see it on forms etc is a small act of rebellion (which I think is the name of a thread here so check out that too!)

You can do a lot and everything you do helps.

HelloYouTwo · 20/09/2019 08:41

@OhHolyJesus thank you, great ideas for making a start.

The picture says it all.

You will never convince most people that the emperor has clothes, no matter how desperately organisations, policy makers, politicians, celebs, woke bros or AGPs want to be validated or liked.

None of this helps women, though, when some idiots in power make rules that put women and children at risk, that manipulate crime statistics, place men in women's prisons or wipe out hideous crimes that were committed when 'Jill' was Jack.

Just look at the 'It never happens' resource thread.

Agree with previous suggestions. I've written to council, MP, child's school, organisations, posted leaflets, peaked colleagues, including those in HR, and dug my heels in to make sure my work place does not make the women's toilets mixed sex.

Justhadathought · 20/09/2019 09:06

It does suggest that many trans women are deluded about how they appear to others. Many must seriously think they pass. Being so self absorbed means that there is little awareness of the true response and reality of others.

Haworthia · 20/09/2019 09:08

I think you’re into something about the decision to publish mugshots with the caption. Here’s one I saw on Twitter yesterday. Canada, obvs.

I hope it peaks the journalists.

GenderfreeJoe · 20/09/2019 09:21

Many do seem deluded re passing privilege. Whatever they see in the mirror is not what women see. I don't think many pass, but there's a generally a clue that gives it away, from the blatantly obvious as in the case of Alex Drummond, to the subtleties, the way they present, walk, talk. And women are primed to recognise males near them. It's instinctive, a survival technique. Of course many men and trans women mock this, because they don't have this instinct. They never needed it, being born male n'all.

Inebriati · 20/09/2019 09:38

As an aside, I wonder what men actually see when they look at us.

teawamutu · 20/09/2019 10:28

Handbags, heels, hair and tits, from what I can gather.

Although some do register an actual fellow human.

Justhadathought · 20/09/2019 10:35

It would appear that many just see superficial characteristics and judge on the basis of those. Women appear as 'icons' of femininity ( or 'lack' of femininity) and whatever social codes that 'femininity' represents.

Justhadathought · 20/09/2019 10:37

So much of how women are viewed, by men, is purely fetishistic.

andyoldlabour · 20/09/2019 13:02

Here is the story to go with that and it really is not a very nice one. It would seem that Canada is a place which I will no longer look forward to visiting. The reporting has to change on these cases, because it is clear misrepresentation of facts.
