NC for this post because it reveals my twitter account.

I've just had my Twitter account suspended for the following Tweet;

Because men are and always have been since day dot seen as more important and deserving of priority than women. That's why. #patriarchy

I honestly thought we were past this shit. Now even discussing patriarchy is getting us banned.

So depressing. I'm appealing obvs but dont hold much hope.

This seems like a massive over-reaction even if they do have a policy of pretending men have nothing to do with patriarchy. You haven't threatened anyone.you haven't encouraged violence or hate. It's quite carefully phrased.
What was the context?

suspended · 12/09/2019 14:02

It was in response to that Dorothy Perkins incident, where a trans woman was asked to leave the changing rooms, complained and was given £100 voucher.

Someone commented something along the lines of 'why are our (females) feelings discounted in situations like this' (the ratio was about 100 comments from women asserting that they would like their changing rooms female only) and this was my response.

I was locked out of mine for putting UK government stats about male violence. Apparently that's unacceptable in our brave new world 🤷‍♀️

Qcng · 12/09/2019 14:09

Ah, I see.
It's because you inadvertently referred to a transwoman as "men".

It makes sense that they banned you.

(Not saying I agree, just that I am not surprised).

MockersthefeMANist · 12/09/2019 14:10

Social Media is a new phenomenon, but what we are seeing tends to show that particular platforms become dominated by one generation and/or demographic, exluding or alienating all others. They grow, peak, decline and eventually die like Friends Reunited, in classic product life cycle fashion.

Qcng · 12/09/2019 14:10

I got banned for calling JY a man!

Maybe there should be Feminists banned from Twitter support thread here?

Qcng · 12/09/2019 14:11

*Mockers" I am still waiting for Twitter's decline. We can only hope.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/09/2019 14:13

You are not surely suggesting that just because a woman has a penis she is the M-word?

littlbrowndog · 12/09/2019 14:13

I haven5 been banned but am on a terf block list for some reason

suspended · 12/09/2019 14:14

I'll just go join spinster and take my business there. The amount of misogynistic, hate filled paedo accounts I see on there and i get banned.... ha

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 12/09/2019 14:16

Yet there are ppl on twitter who don’t get banned who promote peadophilia or I think they are called MAP

Then there was a guy who was wanking in ladies toilets. Took twitter ages to take it down

Then there’s all the tras who shout kill terfs burn terfs yet they are still there

RosesAndRaindrops · 12/09/2019 14:22

What Qcng said - that'll be why.

CharlieParley · 12/09/2019 14:37

I've checked the thread (your tweet has been deleted). There is nothing there that justifies censoring your words. In light of the recent thread on the psychology of AGP, however, I am struck just how apt it was, because this is yet another perfect example.

The tweet you responded to, which asked why the feelings of one person take priority over those of many, received this in reply from the man in question:

You are a minority. TERFS are a hateful radical fundamentalist group. Banned everywhere and hated by all. You are the minority.

Which is not only woefully misinformed, illogical and smacks of a tantruming toddler in its reality-denying nature, it's also interesting that

expressing discomfort at the notion of males using a female-only space = TERF

Because that slur has a particular meaning inherent in the RF part of the word. But the vast majority of women who value female-only spaces would not call themselves feminists, let alone radical ones.

I mean we know from a great number of polls now that only a small minority of women state that they are okay with men claiming womanhood sharing their spaces.

And I know from talking to a lot of women who would initially say they were ok with it, they actually assume that self-id refers to fully transitioned post-op transsexuals because they would NEVER think of crossdressers like the complainer here demanding the right to be included.

BiologyIsReal · 12/09/2019 15:51

I am so baffled/angry/bemused (insert any word of your choice meaning you don't understand how something has happened) that such a miniscule proportion of the population can exert such a malign influence on social media bosses, politicians, the media, businesses etc You name it they will bow to it.

But why? Need to be seen to be progressive/woke/inclusive? (TRAs are not progressive, they are regressive in enshrining gender stereotypes that should have been consigned to history a century ago when women got the vote).

Are these wimpy organisations afraid of being called bigots? It's only a bloody word. Afraid of being called TERFS? That's only another bloody word as well.

I'd rather be called a bigot or a TERF, because at least it means I understand biology, than a silly twerp - the only possible description for someone who believes people can change their sex.

As for the word gender - that has become another meaningless word as well.

For God's sake won't someone get a grip?

I am so fucking fed up with all this bowing and scraping to this new madness. Call me what you like. I won't declare that black is white to appease people who have taken leave of reality.

DoctorAllcome · 12/09/2019 16:00

I agree your tweet should NOT have been deleted. Mostly because I think a £100 voucher was because the -victim- whinger was a MtF trans person and that if it had been a bio-woman who had been misgendered, she would have got nothing.

But I digress. Oh yes. Many many shops have unisex changing rooms and areas. Because each cubicle is private, there isn’t really a need to have separate changing areas these days.

FadingStar · 12/09/2019 16:12

I keep my account locked down at all times now...I'm deboosted so I doubt many people outside of my followers would see my posts anyway. Can't wait for the day Twitter is finished.

thecompletenonsequitur · 12/09/2019 16:31

I had to delete a tweet (that was 5 wks old at this point) because I pointed out to someone else, that they shouldn't equate trans with mental health issues. (It was just friendly advice).

Someone had obviously mined my time line for something that would trigger the algorithm.

suspended · 12/09/2019 16:35

I have already had a response to my appeal to say my account will never be reinstated.

That's so quick!

What a shower of horrors.

OP posts:
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/09/2019 16:59

Can the expand on that?

suspended · 13/09/2019 11:56

what do you mean @LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD ?

OP posts:
SleepyKat · 13/09/2019 12:09

So a suspension has turned into a permanent ban? For something which breaks no rules?

Doyoumind · 13/09/2019 12:12

Meanwhile, tweets that I reported almost a week ago celebrating the imminent death of Magdalen are yet to be dealt with Angry

Wtf is going on? This has to stop.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/09/2019 12:39

I meant - can they explain exactly how this decision was made and outline the crime committed? (No I thought not).

suspended · 13/09/2019 17:01

Yes its turned into a permanent ban. From me writing the tweet (around 12ish I think) to me being banned was around 2 hours.

I know Im not meant to do it but I'm setting up a new account and getting straight back in there. I lost a couple of hundred followers too.

Shocking really. I've reported racist abuse, people giving death threats, all sorts really and its never bee acted on. But this..... this deserves instant banning. Brilliant.

OP posts:
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/09/2019 17:09

I’ve reported some horrors. Oddly enough when I get me ‘updates’ I don’t recognise some of the accounts. Maybe people are changing their names but still...
