Most (not all) people who “might be currently aligned with MN feminism board are no friend of women / children / the working class.
I am very sick of left wing judgementalism.
Plenty of fiscally conservative people believe strongly in opportunity for all. A sort of Octavia Hill model.
Within my local friendship group I have been critisiced harshly for:
- sending my children to private school
- being a landlord
- driving a car
- expressing some understanding for Brexit voters (who are 'obviously' all racist. Though some of the accusations directed at the 'white working class' would have met most definitions of racism.)
Actually I gave huge numbers of volunteer hours to support activities for local kids, effectively worked two jobs, have spent a decade supporting elderly parents, and raised kids to believe education carries with it social responsibility. I am also a good landlord.
This issue was my wake up. People are not better because they believe the 'right' things. They are not better if they believe TWAW. They are not better because they believe in Momentum fiscal policies, which I doubt will leave anyone better off. I am not 'better' either, but happy to debate and to defend my views. What I will not accept is being written off as not accepting a level of socially responsibility. Isn't this issue about protecting vulnerable women and girls and ensuring healthy young are not funneled into life long medicalisation.
There is some weird claiming of language. To oppose self ID you need to be GC and a feminist and therefore be left wing. Sorry. Self ID is a bad idea and affects the rights of all women. Any straight thinking person is entitled to oppose it.
