Now it has emerged that this person has a 'comedy act; where they talk about being a schoolgirl and playing with themselves.

It's a shed load easier to pronounce someone's sex (despite what some people are telling midwives and zookeepers these days) than gender - especially when some folx change their genderfeelz depending on the day/weather/whim.

This person is entitled to view themselves however they like and name themselves as they like. I'm equally entitled not to indulge this belief, particularly when according to their Twitter feed and videos, their interest in getting into women's spaces appears connected with motivations I don't think women should be forced to enable them in.

I don't know what the hell other people are thinking. I rarely know what the hell is going on in my own imagination.

I can usually manage to jump the hoops of not actually lying while still not actively inviting punishment for heresy, but sometimes the behaviour of an individual is so far over the line and so insulting to women that I'm not willing to pretend even that much. The language being demanded hides and enables an anti woman agenda. I am not willing to collude in my own oppression.

I didn't like that video. It was funny in places, but it's a very harsh humour based around exploiting vulnerability- sex with animals, the 12 yr old cousin, puncture/punch her etc.

Also, again the performance of 'woman' as slightly ditzi and nervy.

It's the contrast between that and the underlying masculine aggression/cruelty which brings the humour.

I agree. "Harsh" is a good way to describe it.

I didn't think it was very ladylike. Now before you all start shouting at me that you're not ladies let me explain. Describing the humour as harsh puts it well.

I don't think the joke about the 12 year old or bestiality or shitting in her hand were jokes a woman would make.

I saw another one which involved ejaculate as the punch line.

I'm not saying this because I think women should be fragrant and ladylike but I don't think shit and ejaculate and bestiality are things women find funny. Not because we are squeamish but because they aren't funny.

So Dorothy Perkins have not only apologised, they’ve compensated this person to the tune of £100 and grovelling stated it won’t happen again.

Yeah, it’s ugly, punch-down humour. I did laugh a bit but felt pretty repulsed by it in general.

Will be giving DP a miss; I cannot abide companies who put (often junior, female) members of staff in this position then throw them under the bus. Their ops manager should have got behind the employee who made the right call.

With Arcadia Group closing 23 stores this year due to challenging retail conditions, they may want to consider who their core sales demographic is.

So they know that this is a male bodied person, who may be transdoodah or a character actor, and who makes jokes about paedophilia and bestiality - and gets their jolllies around schoolgirls and ladies changing room. And they get £100 for hurty feelings?

I am compiling a draft letter to DP and Josie Green regarding this. I feel they should compensate every women made to feel uncomfortable in the presence of a man. And to snure they are aware of the EA 2010. What an utter shit show!

Argh, this thread (and the Dorothy Perkins response) has given me the rage. If they decide to prioritise the sexual kinks of a male (who has already admitted they like to use women's changing rooms for sexual thrills) over the safety and dignity then they have lost my custom too. I am a mum of two daughters. I have two sisters and four nieces too. Will be spreading the word that Dorothy Perkins is no longer safe for women and girls and will be writing to them

I'm laughing at the deletion I've had - I can only imagine it was the use of 'male bodied' because the only other thing I said was that Dorothy Perkins was rather frumpy when I visited yesterday. So maybe 'male bodied' is a banned term now? Or have we got new guidelines that say we can't make generalizations on the frumpiness of a whole clothing shop?
