It seems that a transwoman was asked to leave the women's changing room.
Now it has emerged that this person has a 'comedy act; where they talk about being a schoolgirl and playing with themselves.
Please support the DP worker - who I believe has been suspended.
I'm having computer problems but hopefully someone can link to the twitter thread.

The cocky joke was funny, didn’t get as far as the cousin

Its just all such a mess, people in authority thinking they are doing the right thing without thinking through the ramifications and not thinking about other women at all

I take it back. If DP has capitulated then they've lost my business and I'm sure I'm core demographic for that shop.

Never mind, sure all the men supporting Darcie will be buying from there. Not.

Short sighted of DP then.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/09/2019 08:37

“Please be assured that we never intend to upset or ostracize our customers... bla bla bla’ says DP. So a handful of people’s hurty feelings trumps 52% of the postulation.

Why is is always the shops where young women and ore teens like to shop? DP, Topshop, Primark...

AJPTaylor · 10/09/2019 08:38

It is an absolute mess and not fair on staff (often junior) to have to judge. Let alone sanctioning them for making a decision in the moment.

HandsOffMyRights · 10/09/2019 08:40

DP is owned by the Arcadia Group, which also owns TopShop.

You can contact them here: [email protected]

They do realise that all this - and I am wondering if this is a publicity stunt - is chipping away at any goodwill women have for transsexuals?

Not sure - any unions I've seen on this whole debate have been well and truly on the trans side.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

TRA's started all this shit stirring.

SunsetBeetch · 10/09/2019 10:03

Topshop let Travis Alabanza, who isn't even trans, use the women's changing rooms, so I don't hold out much hope for DP. Shame, I quite like their clothes, but I'm not going to give money to companies who don't care about women.

NellieEllie · 10/09/2019 10:22

I actually thought she was quite funny - tailed off at the end a bit. Delivery very like Julian Clary though.
Sad to hear DP have given in. Though from the description, I don’t think the staff member dealt with it very well. It is a difficult situation to deal with - should always be a senior member of staff or manager I think...

It is a very difficult situation to deal with, and that's in good part why women's boundaries are being eroded so successfully. Women are socialised not to upset people, it's embarrassing for everyone when an obvious male has to be told they shouldn't be using a woman's space, and the majority of women would probably rather have other women quietly and angrily leave than deal with an obviously dodgy male kicking off at them. Men having tantrums is a scary experience and many women know well the risks of ending up being thumped by one.

And that's before the store has to deal with the TRA pile on.

Tippety · 10/09/2019 10:27

I won't ever shop there again, I wish I had an amazing business so I could give the employee a job!

Michelleoftheresistance · 10/09/2019 10:29

Until women are no longer the easier ones to upset, this won't change. Until society gets over fear of uncomfortable feelings and upsetting people, they won't manage boundaries. This is the message put forward to children by the NSPCC for pete's sake - you should always have boundaries about your body and your safety, unless you having boundaries upsets a self identified male.

What’s wrong with being a man who doesn’t ‘do manning’?’
I saw that person and I also wondered about their motivation which I wouldn't have done before women's spaces started being invaded.

Michelleoftheresistance · 10/09/2019 11:35

The trouble is, as with Darcie, that so often the facts prove concerning motivations, and it is clear that women's concerns about men entering women's spaces under self ID are being proven valid. Over and over and over again.

MsMcWibble · 10/09/2019 12:29

I don't know why a pp is saying that this didn't happen, when even DP are saying that it did.
Many people don't pass in real life when they think that they do.
The real issue here is that a probably poorly paid assistant has been reprimanded for standing up for women's rights to a male-free changing room.
And that Dorothy Perkins is now grovelling and throwing away women's rights to safety and privacy.
I understand that this person has hidden most of their videos now. Why, if they are not worried about the impression they give?
