So, after bombarding two women with thousands of texts demanding explicit photos, it turns.out he didn't do anything wrong because he claims he had mental.health issues at the time.

His wife had just given birth to their first child so ssupect her mental health wasnt improved by learning this about her husband.

Men in positions of power are still getting away with this crap and it's not being challenged.

And he still is in post, despite his constituents calling for his resignation.

SarahTancredi · 09/09/2019 07:03

They get away with everything dont they.

That would constitute stalking or harassment in any other situation. Unless it's a man then he just cant help it.

Mental health issues my arse. Millions of people have mental health issues . They dont all act inappropriately for heavens sake

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 09/09/2019 07:04

What a crock of bullshit.
Men clear Man of wrong doing against women... Again..

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/09/2019 07:24

I’m so tired of the mental health excuse for men to be lecherous creeps, and worse. Women suffer more mental health issues than men and we aren’t en masse doing this crap.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 09/09/2019 08:08

I know. But no one is challenging him on it. Men in positions of power get away with this by citing 'stress' or MH issues.

Yes they do, and they use this excuse for much worse too. It’s frustrating as hell

Themyscira · 09/09/2019 08:19

1st rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.

2nd rule of misogyny: Women saying no to men is a hate crime.

10th rule of misogyny: The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

I can't decide which one applies.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/09/2019 08:36

All 3?

TheClitterati · 09/09/2019 08:52

Given the acceptance of the way our PM conducts his personal life, it's hardly surprising that this is found to be acceptable contact for a member of Parliament.

Yeah it's all a big patriarchal shit show in the there

Themyscira · 09/09/2019 09:00

All 3?

Basically, yeah.

^ A resolution letter from the watchdog said: "Mr Griffiths' conduct has undoubtedly damaged his own reputation, as well as his health and family relationships.
"However damaging these events have been for Mr Griffiths personally, I am not persuaded that the texts he exchanged with the two women have caused significant damage to the reputation of the House of Commons as a whole, or of its Members generally."^

Griffiths has damaged himself (oh, and maybe some women...). It's the 'watchdog' who has done the more general damage ... maybe this behaviour doesn't breach the current code of conduct, if so it's not fit for purpose in the age of sexting.
