This is regarding appalling Bbc schools films around gender.

Very good article.

I'm not sure if this is a share token or not.

I'm clearly gender queer Hmm

It's worth watching all the films as some are quite eye opening.

My very bright friend

I'd argue this based on the information you have provided.

nauticant · 08/09/2019 19:16

I took it to be a nod towards this Orwell quotation:

There are some ideas so wrong that only a very intelligent person could believe in them.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/09/2019 19:34

Captain, I despaired.

I have been thinking about those kids faces when she tells them there are 100 different gender identities. They didn't look reassured or Teresa's, they looked fucking terrified

I imagine the child was terrified thinking of the day she is told that she has to memorise all their names and symptoms.

My dd had such thorough sex education at school here in Mexico, having sex must have felt like doing homework.

OhHolyJesus · 08/09/2019 21:34

This has hit the AIBU board

It'll get the BBC defenders and the TRA's in one thread.

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/09/2019 08:38

I'm increasingly cross about the whole series.

And how individuals with no medical background can claim to be experts and authorities on this.

I agree and as I said in a previous message the 'PSHE education expert' responsible for this series was Kate Daniels, seen here giving advice on using these films.
www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/pshe-ks2-the-big-talk/zn8f7nb.

I don't want to be too harsh on the woman as she appears a well meaning, caring person but I am certainly under-impressed by the credentials she lists on her website and can't see how this gives her the expertise to be a big player in educating/indoctrinating the nations children.

www.psheeducation.co.uk/credentials

Breaking them down;

Psychology: Child Development and Sociology, Grade A
A grade A but was it a GSCE or an A level?

Environmental Science BSc Hons 1994
A degree in an unrelated field

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Ok a primary school teacher with 10 years experience followed by some random extra responsibilities that almost all teachers would acquire after 10 years.

She then lists several short courses/CPD in new age popular psychology that typically take between a day and a couple of months to complete.

Nappyvalley15 · 09/09/2019 11:40

Thingy
Yes that psychology qualification makes no sense. Maybe it was a module in child development on a psychology GCSE that she wrote an A grade essay for?

Could be. I hope someone corrects me if I am wrong but doesn't the A grade indicate that it must have been an A level at most as I am not aware of any higher education institute ever grading by letters.

Nappyvalley15 · 09/09/2019 12:03

Yes, HE institutions don't use letter grades. It is a 'barrel scraped' psychology credential that doesn't qualify her for what she is doing.

OrchidInTheSun · 09/09/2019 12:20

I see Kate is based in Brighton. I wonder who she knows at the BBC to have got this gig?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/09/2019 12:46

There are 2 sexes. There are many genders. They are not the same thing.

Perhaps if men accepted what other men wear or present as then this wouldn't be such an issue. If a bloke wants to wear a dress and make up and could stroll into the men's lips and not get stared at or laughed at or abused then genders would even be a thing. And we'd all be more accepting.

If it were vice versus eg women walking into women's loos presenting as a man....well, doesn't that happen without comment already? I have shot hair and never wear dresses or skirts.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/09/2019 12:47

Men's LOOS not lips ffs

EmpressLesbianInChair · 09/09/2019 13:06

Or maybe then we could just eliminate the whole horrible concept of genders, and we'd all accept men in dresses as men in dresses. And that would be absolutely fine.
