Good article and glad to see Stephanie A-D asked for comment.
The comments are already shaping up well. For example:
I would laugh if it were not such a worry. They seem to have confused the word "gender" for personality. As in: a girl is a female body with any personality; not any old body with a "female personality"
It is so old fashioned, and incredibly confusing to give children a message that female or male stereotypes are what makes someone a girl or a boy.
Right now we have Primary school children, some of whom may turn out to be gay; some of who will not, being told their love of certain clothing, certain toys or activities means they are "actually" the wrong sex. These messages are taken very literally by autistic children, who represent a large chunk of those referred to the Tavistock GIDS. Where is the Safeguarding?
The BBC has a disproportionately large number of trans identifying employees, and they seem keen to use children to validate what is essentially a belief system. The BELIEF in "gender" which is separate from, and more important than, biological sex.
