Cos Amber Rudd just quit the Cabinet AND the Tory Party...

The right woman could have. Wokey handmaidens, OTOH... (Mhairi, Nicola, looking at you)

Fallingirl · 08/09/2019 02:04

Ah, but at least both government and opposition can more coherently define Brexit than the concept of “woman”.

What’s the labour party plan for Brexit? Brexit is anything that feels like Brexit?

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/09/2019 07:29

Right, there's been so many they're all merging into one. Confused Did we like Amber? Did she come on here?

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 08/09/2019 08:13

I am not really bothered by this, I didn't think Rudd was strong enough to stick up for women against Stonewall et al.

I do dread to think who will be next though.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 08/09/2019 08:14

Is Victoria Atkins still in post?

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2019 09:34

Question: Do you think Johnson will replace Rudd as Women's and Equality Minister or quietly just drop the post?

OP posts:
LangCleg · 08/09/2019 09:41

Drop the post.

RedToothBrush · 08/09/2019 09:44

That's what I think...

OP posts:
BelleHathor · 08/09/2019 09:44

On Sophy Ridge on sky, they speculated that the MP that replaced Rudd in the DWP wouldn't replace her in Womens and equalities as she voted against same sex marriage. They will announce the post later.

YvonneRadstone · 08/09/2019 09:44

Don't panic, Labour will get in and the next Minister for Women will be Mr Cock Ina Frock.

Melroses · 08/09/2019 09:54

Apparently Therese is going to Pensions.

Womens&Equality twitter is dropped so I expect the post will follow. Will that leave Victoria Atkins holding the report from the GRA consultation or is there an LGBTQETC minister in the backroom somewhere?

Melroses · 08/09/2019 09:57

Don't panic, Labour will get in and the next Minister for Women will be Mr Cock Ina Frock Mr Twocock is Stonewall, apaz Wink

Chickenish · 08/09/2019 10:31

Not to derail, but why is Labour now the party against Brexit? As far as I could see, there was a three line whip forcing their MPs to vote FOR Brexit. Another reason, besides their TWAW and anti-semitism why they have lost my vote.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/09/2019 11:06

🤷🏻‍♀️ dunno but also why I didn't vote for them. Lib Dem's were clearly anti brexit except now I can't vote for them so basically buggered either way.

Chickenish · 08/09/2019 12:49

I look forwards not only to the day when rationality returns to the word woman, but the day when there is no need for a women’s and equality officer.

RedToothBrush · 10/09/2019 19:46

Liz Truss is the new Women's and Equalities Minister

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 10/09/2019 19:59

Sam Coates Sky @samcoatessky
Liz Truss on gender and self ID

WELL

She's gender critical...

So we are going to need ANOTHER women and equalities minister

... Shame she's otherwise utterly terrible.

OP posts:
truthisarevolutionaryact · 10/09/2019 20:06

Well this will be interesting. The lobby groups will move heaven and earth to get her removed - they've been very used to bullying MPs into silence. James Kirkup in the Spectator has written repeatedly about MPs talking to him off the record about being unable to voice their true feelings and concerns about what is happening to children because of the pile on from individuals and groups.

RedToothBrush · 10/09/2019 20:07

Diana Johnson @ dianajohnsonmp
But sadly @trussliz not such a good friend of women as she has abstained on key votes on women’s reproductive rights unlike @AmberRuddHR @PennyMordaunt @JustineGreening

We got ourselves a proper slice of the culture war here...

OP posts:
Popchyk · 10/09/2019 20:42

James Kirkup on Twitter, expecting the trans outrage machine to target Truss next.

twitter.com/jameskirkup/status/1171503675979644928

"I predict some reactions to @trussliz getting women & equalities brief - reactions based on a single tweet - will prove some familiar points about the trans debate. Remember what happens to women who dare to have opinions or question doctrine. #BurnTheWitch #SarcasticHashtag"

Ereshkigal · 13/09/2019 10:20

I'd forgotten about the hyperbolic ridiculousness of Delia Johnston's response. Apparently we on MN are "vicious" and "effectively encouraging violence against the transgender community" 🙄
