Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

I’ve just heard back from Boris

Wrote about my objections to self-Id, what’s going on in schools etc. Got a letter back saying my comments carefully noted. Expected no more but please everyone write a letter. An election is coming and now is the time to make our voices heard - politicians judge by the numbers of letters they get.

johnson. Envy not envy. I wouldn't touch anything that's been near him. You don't know where it might have been.

HumberElla · 31/08/2019 15:53

Sounds positive OP! Do you think it was a standard response letter or did it refer to the points you raised?

Inebriati · 31/08/2019 15:55

I've written expressing my concern about organisations, individuals and MP's that undermine The Equality Act.

woman19 · 31/08/2019 15:57

Did it mention his views on Domestic Abuse or paying Child Maintenance Payments?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 31/08/2019 15:59

. I wouldn't touch anything that's been near him. You don't know where it might have been.

Tbf he probably didn't send a personal, handwritten note.

Like this?

On Friday evening a furious Cummings was reported to have told special advisers that he was “pissed off” about “bullshit briefings” on pay and gender balance

ThePurported · 31/08/2019 16:12

You're absolutely right, woman19, Boris Johnson and Conservatives in general are not big on equality, to put it mildly.
But sadly he is the new prime minister, and given that Corbyn has unequivocally declared himself for self-id, what are women to do?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 31/08/2019 16:17

Shocking! I didn't know he could read!

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 31/08/2019 16:24

Gender balance is bullshit though. Grin

And now I've actually sunk so low that I've defended Dominic Cummings I'm leaving the thread to have a word with myself.

woman19 · 31/08/2019 16:35

Tbh I'm not being fair to de Pfiffel.

He does maintain same sex spaces for women.

Yarls Wood Detention centre where innocent women are held indefinitely before often being forcibly deported is still very much single sex facility.

The HO officers who chain and drug them while they are dragged onto planes are often men though.

MockersthefeMANist · 31/08/2019 16:40

Like David Lloyd George before him, I am sure Johnson will have a place for women in 10 Downing St.

Up against the filing cabinets, most likely.

woman19 · 31/08/2019 16:46

If you don't know, I can't help you there, I'm afraid.

On the evidence so far I'd categorized johnson as an Incel in Chief, like his boss, trump.

DishingOutDone · 31/08/2019 16:57

When I read your thread title I thought you were the deleted troll who wanted to have sex with BoJo and you were coming on under another guise to tell us he'd taken you up on it!

AlwaysComingHome · 31/08/2019 17:01

You have a choice between those who believe in sex but don’t believe in equality and those who believe in equality but don’t believe in sex.

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/08/2019 17:12

Bum I missed the troll, who wanted to shag Bozo. Mind you only a troll would.

Incel in Chief Grin

Thanks for the thread op. Good point.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 31/08/2019 18:07

Whatever we think of Boris/Dominic etc, and agree they are shits, they are in power. And judging by the polls they may stay in power after an election. So influencing what may go in the manifesto/Queens Speech makes sense. Self I’d is an unpopular policy and won’t win them any votes so it’s worth letting them know.

I sort of see your point, OP

I wonder which elements of the ECHR, would apply even if they did agree to apply sex instead of gender in our Equalities Act rights.

But with a crash out brexit steaming down the tracks courtesy of the IIC, britain will be crashing out of the ECHR anyway, so Equalities Act rights legislation will be lost anyway.

Also women and kids are about to suffer evenmore because his prorogation of parliament has eviscerated the Domestic Abuse Act. Again.

Those men have no interest in our rights.

That's why they are forcing through a crash out brexit.

Illegally.
