A 25 year old man killed Tracy Single, a transwoman in the US.

They were dating.

Peter Tatchell has taken to Twitter to blame Tracy's death on feminists. This is outrageous propaganda, using Tracy's murder at the hands of a violent boyfriend to further Peter's misogynistic views on feminists.

Can we complain about this somewhere? This kind of outrageous propaganda is dangerous.

If this is the 15th or 16th transwoman to me murdered in the US this year, that would actually make the murder rate for trans people quite low wouldn't it?

The US homicide rate is about 17,000 a year so by August it would be over 11,000. Surveys of of US adults identifying as trans say about 0.5%. So if all was equal you would have expected about 55 trans people to have been murdered. If half of them are transwomen that's still 27 or so.

As pretty much always. Male violence. This is why we want women only spaces. Everyone is vulnerable to male violence including other men, but women especially so.
Desperately sad that this trans woman was killed, but to suggest it’s the fault of women who are concerned about our children being pumped full of experimental hormones, or competing in sport against males, or undressing next to males in public changing rooms, is disingenuous rubbish.

What I quite enjoy is that it lets slip that Pete knows, in his heart, that women are actually powerful and scary and we matter, and he’s not at all happy about it. Blaming feminists for transwomen being murdered is a nifty sleight of hand to misdirect the eye from where women actually do have the power to influence, which is becoming more clear as the tide turns.

Yes, it’s amazing. No evidence whatsoever that trans people are at any increased risk of murder, stats show decreased risk in fact. In the UK, there’s sometimes one case a year, if that. Yet the narrative of murder epidemics is so ingrained that people just accept it with no question. And we get ridiculed and criticised for talking about male-pattern offending, when there are plenty of examples and all the stats are on our side and prove our points, eg re the prison population.
