Sexting

Firstly I hate the word sexting, but didn't know what else to call it.

A woman posted on another group I am on that her 12 year old daughter had sent topless images of herself, and was also pressurised into letting the boyfriend touch her.

Both her and the girl are too scared to report this as they have been told the DD will be charged of distributing images of a minor during official seminars at school.

Does anyone know any more about what would happen in this scenario? A vulnerable pre teen or teenager should not be too scared to go for help.

No, the girl wouldn’t be done for distributing, unless she’s circulating pictures of others.

The most likely outcome is that the police would have a stern word with the boy and the girl would get a chat about not sending explicit pictures.

If there’s evidence of the coercion then the boy might be in serious trouble.

I wish schools etc wouldn't send out the message that the young people sending pictures of themselves will end up with a criminal record, it could lead to many vulnerable people being exploited and being too scared to tell anyone.

I think it's an incredibly sensible message for schools to give out.

It's true.
It doesn't judge anyone who does it, but will hopefully make young people think twice.

It is illegal to send sexual pictures of underaged children, but as this child has taken and sent a photo of HERSELF, she is likely to get support (albeit in quite a stern way).

And i think you're looking in the wrong place to blame schools for this one.
