As above really, I know there's been a thread before but I can't find it now!

After some suggestions of charities where I can be certain any donation is going specifically to girls/women. UK or international :)

There is also The Freedom Programme, but I think they are self-funding

I heard from them very recently. They’re running a campaign on one of the fundraising websites. It would be against the rules for me to link to it here but I’m happy to share the link with anyone who wants to PM me.

A lot of the groups mentioned are obviously worth while, but those in the voluntary sector have funding.

I would suggest looking to something local, eg is there as women's refuge in your area. Refuges struggling for funding because of the historical (and financially unfair) practice of relying on women in the refuge claiming housing benefit. This means there is virtually no money for any other support. eg children who have come with their mother to a refuge.

Refuges struggle to get money for children's activities and in the long summer holidays this is worse. They often try to arrange outings for the children, but are limited by how much money they can get through small hand outs or one off grants from trusts.

And yes, if there still happens to be a local women's centre in your area, but these are now few and far between.

Me too stealth I remember reading about microfinancing in the Big Issue a few years ago. Looks a great way of helping women directly. Going to join up andu loan will go to a female project.

I just came across this charity for cancer patients in pregnancy/after giving birth.

(I also have a crowdfunder but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention it even after a specific request so go ahead and Google me).

Fair play for women.

whoever suggested girl guides might be interested in KatieAlcock's crowdfunder

Just coming back to this thread as I've made a loan to a woman in the Philippines this morning, as I'd enough repaid to make another loan.

Shameless plug, but if anyone is thinking of making a loan before Sunday, please consider messaging me for a link, as I would get a "free" $25 to loan again if someone used my invitation.

'My' refuge run our own freedom programme and is always looking for funding so not necessarily the case that they are self funded
