A non-binary option has been added to male and female boxes on entry forms for this year’s race

Could be a step in the right direction, however I'm wondering if trans women can still race as women and not non binary? Will the trans lobby be happy with this or will it be seen as "othering"?

Of course non binary people in a male body have a sex advantage in this race.

No, it is not a good option. Male and female categories in sport have to do with anatomy, not feelings. Like weight categories in boxing or whatever. You cannot make up your own weight, but you can make up your own sex? Just a way for deluded narcissists to get attention not on their sporting merit, but on their identity which nobody cares about.

Nope, it's ridiculous. What the hell is non-binary?? The concept of non binary is even more ludicrous than the belief that one can changes ones sex.

That was my first thought Ginger - that transwomen will still want to race against women, whether that is for the validation, the physical advantage or just to assert dominance being down to the individual. Because to join the group 'non binary' highlights the fact that transwomen are not women and also depends on individual accepting that.

Far easier to separate groups by biological sex, I'd have thought...

There’s no such thing as non binary. This nonsense is gaining traction because it’s not being challenged openly. TRAs are doing a great job of shutting down discussion by screaming bigot/transphobe at anyone that dares speak out.

I think having a third category is absolutely fine, as long as the sex categories are maintained and it is open to all to race in the category of their sex. If some people are unable to accept the reality of their sex, let them have their own category. It’s a much better idea than letting male people race with women. The only people losing from it will be female bodied NB people who will realise that maybe feelings aren’t all that determine speed. Perhaps it will push them to realise that accepting that you are female doesn’t equal having to accept any of the ridiculous stereotypes that society imposes.

Male people will still want to race with women because they want to validate their identity as women. TW do not identify as non binary. They demand to be seen as women.

Yeah, I would make the third category ‘trans and non binary’ with no exceptions. I am well aware that this would not be enough for them...

Well I’m a biological woman but I could be tempted to enter in the non binary category if there’s less entries in that one and it means I have a better chance of winning/coming high up. I mean I can self ID as what I want can’t I? See how they like it!
