Lesbian Strength march

I saw on facebook that a local paper is running a poll as to whether Lesbian Strength should be allowed to advertise this march.

The early results showed 92% Yes, of course

There appears to be a bit of a pile on by those who feel that lesbians should not be able to advertise a march for lesbian women only - the AHF type, not the TW type - as the percentage is currently lower than 92 and appears to be going down.

I don't usually vote in such things, but have done on this occasion.

Is a link allowed? Or will the publication name be sufficient?

It will be systematically bombed by TRAs using multiple accounts to falsify results. Which is why no one is now left who believes anything a poll says.

It's as if they don't believe in being fair or honest. Or in allowing other people opinions and the right to uncontrolled expression.

PetraDelphiki · 21/08/2019 15:52

I found it quite easily....can't see why a link isn't allowed...

I voted about an hour ago. It was 93% then but am guessing TRAs have sent in reinforcements.

As if anyone should find it unreasonable that lesbians should only include homosexual females. Anyway, train tickets are booked, hotel booked, now just to think of something to go on our banner.

TransposersArePosers · 21/08/2019 16:18

It's infuriating isn't it?

But I can imagine an easily influenced person might feel that a poll like this adds weight to the 'wrong side of history' line if it gets sufficiently hijacked. Interesting how the results go the way of common sense until it comes to the attention of the TRAs. It was similar with Posies Woman definition poster (after the Liverpool one) when a poll was run. I think that was in Yorkshire, too.

I am of the 'Wrong Side of History My Arse' view myself!

IS the reporting fair? It says trans people are excluded. Are all transpeople not welcome, or only Male ones? If so the paper wants ticking off.

TheInebriati · 21/08/2019 16:23

Its 69/31%.

the Equality Act defines lesbians as women who are same sex attracted, so the march isn't excluding anyone.

I can't do Twitter links... it's there @leedslivenews and the majority of comments are strongly GC and fed up. Rightly so. Lesbianism should not have to be inclusive of males. Particularly males whose agenda is overtly hostile and eradicatory to female homosexuals. Utter insanity

fionnulafanackapan · 21/08/2019 22:34

Only transwomen are definitely excluded, transmen are welcome as long as they are exclusively attracted to women

Aspley · 21/08/2019 22:55

The overt homophobia should be reported here.
Lesbians (homosexual females) are a protected category in the Equality Act.
We need someone like Sonia Poulton or Janice Turner to get involved.
Lesbians don't do penises we should be allowed to say that publically.

Advisemeplease1 · 21/08/2019 22:59

63/37 now, when I voted "yes" they should be allowed to advertise this.

chilling19 · 21/08/2019 23:10

68/32 now

stumbledin · 22/08/2019 00:05

This has already been posted as part of the ongoing thread about the March and Rally here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3663822-Lesbian-Strength-March-and-Rally-in-Leeds-on-7-September-2019?pg=3

Koalablue · 22/08/2019 00:11

Down to 69% for 31% against. Let's send in our own reinforcements. Play them at there own game.

Tanith · 22/08/2019 08:53

Christine Burns was on Twitter, asking for people to game the poll.
I bet that paper's never known so much interest Grin

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/08/2019 10:10

Please do send a screen shot to the newspaper: let them know what is happening and I hope they remove the poll and explain exactly why.

No morals, no ethics, no interest in anyone's voice but their own.

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/08/2019 10:12

And no, really not playing silly internet games of one upmanship, or validating this immoral bullshit they pull on everything by getting involved in it. This stuff is serious for women, it isn't a game.

Ereshkigal · 22/08/2019 21:16

The poll has been closed and I couldn't see a final result- did it get taken down before the end?

Tanith · 24/08/2019 13:04

Yes, it did. Smile

Really, does CB not think that polls can tell when multiple votes from the same sources suddenly start rolling in?
