Attacks on Muslim Women (which are happening on an industrial scale especially in england, since the brexit vote) have been encouraged and enabled by the current british PM, and a panapoly of racist right wing english and DUP politicians.

Brexit has given permission to so many racists and sexists to act out their basest prejudices.

But yes, it seems to me that things are much worse during these Brexit years. Brexit is causing too much fear and fear brings out the worst.

IMO I think racism is the problem here. It seems to be a trend in Europe for countries to ban muslim women covering their faces and that only leads to more racial attacks like this one.

Women in religious dress have always been easy targets for racists. But the thing is many racists are too thick to even be able to differentiate between a Muslim as opposed to a Sikh / Hindu / Jewish woman or indeed nuns. My hometown has had significant attacks (in ‘protest’ of Islam) on all women who don’t wear what we would deem as western clothing, even nuns!

It's just that there have been so so much more attacks in england; all illegal and very damaging to the individual women involved.

The police and the courts are aware of the scale of them; the media seems to have stopped reporting them.

The area this happened is in South Dublin - relatively affluent and multi-cultural, just up the road from one of the biggest shopping centers in Ireland. Women/girls wearing hijabs is super-common.

I haven't read any reporting about it - I wonder if this was targetted bullying - ie they knew each other, rather than racially motivated random street crime (not that that makes it any better)
