Someone probably has already highlighted this but just in case,I think is shows the total lack of any concern for women prisioners.

Transwoman axe attacker in womens prison gets in fights and is 'de-transitioning' why are they still in a womens prision ffs?

Dont know if this link will work but here goes www.binary.org.au/transgender_axe_attacker_in_prison_fight

I see Amati's sentence has been increased.

www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/aug/19/sydney-axe-attacker-evie-amati-has-jail-term-nearly-doubled

littlbrowndog · 19/08/2019 20:19

It was a terrible attack.

He shouldn’t be in a women’s prison

FFSFFSFFS · 19/08/2019 20:19

Why oh why can't it be reported as "transwoman"

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 20:21

That delicate little flower? The one in the cctv film trying to knock someone’s head off?

Should be in a psychiatric hospital maybe.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 19/08/2019 20:24

The guardian link above has (at last) mentioned Amati's being transgender/transitioning - only they've left out the part about her re-transitioning back to male (mods, I'm sorry, I'm doing the best I can with pronouns, I'm genuinely not sure what they should be at this point.)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 20:25

Can’t see the guardian running an update.

ThatCurlyGirl · 19/08/2019 20:40

You Could. Not. Make. This. Shit. Up.

I've said it before on here recently but I'll say it again - my formerly simmering quiet rage has turned to very vocal, very externalised anger. It's getting harder and harder to express myself without wanting to scream and shout. But then I'd be called a "hysterical" woman.

Were we so complacent this all unfolded before our very eyes? Or were people just as angry as I am now but shouted down? Fucking hell.

Popchyk · 19/08/2019 20:50

Amati identifies as male again now, so pronouns are he/him.

And if gender identity is the defining criteria for prison, then why isn't he back in a man's prison? Why isn't the state respecting his all-important gender identity?

This is a man who identifies as a man.

So women's prisons are now open to:

  • men who identify as women
  • men who identify as men

It is an absolute joke.

So fill your boots fellas, you only have to identify as female for the period after being charged until you get sentenced to serve your time in a women's prison.

Then you can drop the act but still get to stay in the women's prison.

When you get out you can sue the state for not transferring you to a male prison when you identified as male again.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 19/08/2019 20:53

Well, Popchyk, what choice do we have? We have to let those men who identify as women (or men) into women's prisons, otherwise they could really get hurt feelings. And that would be totally unacceptable.

Chiochan · 19/08/2019 20:57

What Popchyk said. Soitsok now to lock up volunerable women with men who id'ed as women at anytime ever.

Does anyone else read these stories numerous times thinking they must be missing something because it is SO FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

I read one, finish it, thank I must have skipped over the bit that made it make sense to the powers that be. Rinse, repeat and get angry.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/08/2019 21:21

They had ‘gender (re)assignment surgery’ and have changed their mind. Wow. I assume this means they went the whole hog.

Well that says a hell of a lot about how even the most adamant can do a turnaround. Despite their ‘last brain in a male body’. You couldn’t make it up.

Chiochan · 19/08/2019 21:22

Hope the woman he attacked is ok.

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 19/08/2019 21:22

It was a truly awful attack I saw it when it was first reported. Ppls life’s changed for ever

Yet this violent man in a woman’s prison.

NotBadConsidering · 19/08/2019 21:32

mods, I'm sorry, I'm doing the best I can with pronouns, I'm genuinely not sure what they should be at this point

Can I just derail a bit and make a point on this. How are any of us ever meant to know about anyone? If one of the Pathetic Monitors reports a post for “misgendering” how is the poster supposed to know for sure which pronouns a person uses, and whether the person referred to cares? And how is MNHQ supposed to know if the person in any post (not just this one) wants people to refer to them as he or she? Does MNHQ check every time a Pathetic Monitor reports a post for “misgendering”? I find it ridiculous that we all have to cower in the face of deletion because we don’t know how for sure how someone wants others to refer to them.

Well Amati is a he because the pronoun refers to his sex. If some Pathetic Monitor wants to report my post for “misgendering” firstly, go fuck yourself, and second, you’d better be sure that you’re correct that Amati doesn’t want to be referred to as he, and MNHQ better check with Australian authorities in the prison he’s held in to be sure before I am deleted.

zebrasdontwearbras · 19/08/2019 21:59

Amati is a he.

MN allows us to correctly pronoun males who have been convicted of male pattern violent or sexual crimes.

I watched the attack this man made on another man, and a woman, randomly, in the store. It was horrifically aggressive. You'd be searching a long while before finding a woman swinging an axe like that, at a stranger.

The prison authorities have allowed this farcical situation where violent males are incarcerated with women.

Women told them. Experts in the prison systems have told them. They didn't listen.

ThatCurlyGirl · 19/08/2019 22:08

To use the pattern of a famous quote:

First they came for the toilets
Then they came for the pronouns
Then they came for the schools
Then they came for the prisons
Then they came for the press
Then they came for the government
Then they came for our safe spaces
Then they EVEN came for the *periods

Then we all got to peak trans and decision makers at every level didnt give a shit so they silenced us.

They've never come for the wage gap though. And I doubt they ever will.

*just the bits they want of these - sympathy and self promoting

ThatCurlyGirl · 19/08/2019 22:11

That asterix was meant to be after:

"Then they even came for our periods*"

Because to asterix indicates the below:
*just the bits they want of these - sympathy and self promoting

ALittleBitofVitriol · 19/08/2019 22:41

ThatCurlyGirl - they were angry and warned us but they were shut up and drowned out by a cacophony of 'just be niiiiiiice'

Nobody listens to women. Especially angry ones. Or icky lesbian ones. Feminazi manhaters? As if!

ChattyLion · 20/08/2019 05:34

^^ Yes. This. 100%.
This is the obvious lesson of the ‘it will never happen’ thread isn’t it.
Not only that inexcusable is done to women and women are expected to accept it - and repeatedly- but that anyone complaining about it is blamed for being nasty and then just fucking ignored anyway.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3348290-It-will-never-happen-resource-thread?pg=4&order=

This story is just horrific, just like all the other ones on that thread.

Why do women and children have to be the innocent people deliberately placed into this slow-motion car crash, before someone somewhere finally will change the policy? (If they ever do- WTF will it take to change the policy?! Doesn’t seem like even murder is enough..)

Of course everyone who wants to call themselves something new or dress however they want should absolutely crack on with that. But something is literally categorically wrong when authorities feel they have no choice legally but to put MEN into a WOMEN’s prison (or where authorities want to do this to be woke and are permitted to ‘get ahead of the law’ on this - ie be illegal). Just absolutely NO.

It’s completely unacceptable there can be no ‘third space’ option that would be legally available to the authorities to use instead without fear (or purported fear Hmm) of a complainant being able to sue them for mishousing them because of their gender feelings. Why the fuck are the authorities not equally scared of women sueing them into tomorrow for putting women at risk in this way?

This type of highly risky mess surely goes back to legal solutions which should be urgently reviewed by Parliaments in countries where these apply such as the gender recognition act. (In the UK).

DoctorTwo · 20/08/2019 06:20

But they say this never happens.

OrchidInTheSun · 20/08/2019 06:59

Fekko - Amati could still have a penis. I've seen people like Paris Lees and Bergdorf describe facial feminisation surgery and breast implants as gender reassignment surgery. It suits them for people to think they have dysphoria about their penises when they don't

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/08/2019 07:07

Ah - explains why ‘gender’ not ‘sex’ (re)assignment surgery.

Popchyk · 20/08/2019 08:48

The very first man in the UK to get transferred to a women's prison was John Pilley. Became Jane Anne Pilley.

After the transfer, John decided to identify as male again and had another sex change operation and returned to a men's prison.

mg.co.za/article/2006-01-12-prisoner-changes-sex-again/

Here's another recent case of a male inmate getting sex change surgery, moving to a women's prison for 10 years and then sex change surgery again when he started identifying as male again.

metro.co.uk/2018/10/03/transgender-inmate-had-op-to-become-a-man-again-after-10-years-in-female-jail-7818605/

This man got married to a female inmate while in the women's prison.

A female prisoner said "I could not get a mole removed when I was inside so how he convinced them to give him two sex changes God only knows.’

I'm guessing that this man is nearly due for release and is preparing for life on the outside again.
