DWP and gender

I'm currently filling in disability benefit application forms. In the special requests for your face to face interview one of the options they have is asking for someone of the same gender.

I wonder what their exact policy is, does anyone know if some bloke with a beard can self identify as a woman or their process is stricter than that?

Somehow I feel the rest of their processes are a tad stricter disrespectful of self ID than the one where you say you are a woman and they decide if that's true.

Well removing women's rights shouldn't be as easy as ticking a box on a form so maybe that's one thing the DWP might be getting right? (Just a drop in the ocean though )
