Did anyone catch this?

Francis crook ? From the league for penal reform highlighted a mirror story about child murders and made the point that the courts need to be able to stop violent men seeing their children.

I think she also said something about supporting women's groups.

I heard it on the car radio & haven't seen the newspaper article, so apologies that I haven't got all the details, but it would have been on at about 9:55.

I do normally listen but missed it this morning. I think the Howard League have been quite good on policies transgender prisoners so I am pleased to read this. It took a while to find the report she mentioned but it seems that the Sunday Mirror has launched a new campaign. Horrifyingly 63 children have been killed by parents where the courts have given the murdering parent custody. (I am deliberately using parent here as a woman was convicted of killing her children last week but I do know that it’s more often fathers and stepfathers.)

I think the Mirror story deserves a thread of its own and all the support we can give this call for greater safeguarding.

Huge kudos to the Mirror for this campaign. I've heard from people who support abused women that it's increasingly the case that family courts will give custody to violent fathers or allow unsupervised contact to violent fathers. I don't know why this is happening, but it's absolutely horrifying.

Frances Crook is excellent. Glad she used the opportunity to talk about this on BH.

Good idea. It needs a high profile.
