Books on transgenderism and queer theory

Can anyone recommend books/essays that focus on the theoretical underpinning of transgenderism, and its relationship with queer theory? I’d like to get ‘Gender Hurts’ by Sheila Jeffries but it is so horribly expensive, about £30. And refuse to give money to any proponents of queer theory such as Judith Butler!

I’ve tried ‘Delusions of Gender’ but that’s not really what I’m looking for- it’s more about the science than the (queer) theory.

Dr Em did 4 essays on Medium I think, they were useful to me as an intro to QT.

I think you can find it here

uncommongroundmedia.com/the-trojan-unicorn-queer-theory-and-paedophilia-part-i-%EF%BB%BF-dr-em/

I'll look out a you tube clip too. It was of a lecturer being heckled and called transphobic etc when talking about Judith Butler or Focault.

Not a lecturer sorry, Derrick Jensen

...as for books I'm not sure I can recommend anything. The Dr Em essays were enough for me for now, apart from it being hard going (but she breaks it down really well), it's pretty disturbing stuff and I can't read that stuff before bedtime!

Hope this helps, will check back in to see what you can find.

Both of those books by Sheila Jeffreys are brilliant.
Nobody else I can think of really covers the topic you want.

Janice Raymond possibly

Oh and lastly the best way I've found to explain QT is this something like this example, stolen from a podcast which if I can find it I'll share.

A girl like playing with cars and wants to be a mechanic when she grows up.

Feminism: of course she can be a mechanic, women can do anything men can do and only stereotypes do damage to that little girl's dreams (or something like that)

QT: is she even a girl?

It was a long and brilliant podcast so will definitely share if I dig it out - even though you asked for reading references it might be useful.

Thank you for recommending my work! I would say look at the end notes/foot notes for books.

If you have any questions after reading Victoria please ask. It is not to be read before bed, make sure you give yourself time to decompress after them as I deal with queer theory and the promotion of CSA. This is at the heart of queet theory, its reason for existence.

ThatDoctorEM · 17/08/2019 21:06

When I'm explaining QT quickly I say this:

Radical feminism: get the bolt cutters, we need to break the chains to free the slaves.

Liberal Feminism: there are no slaves, they are agents and chose to be shackled, don't slave shame now, here have a tote bag.

Queer Theory: everyone must be chained so a minority can paint their shackles and call them bracelets.

I ❤️ that, DrEm

Thank you Erishkigal, I feel it gets it across sans waffle.
