Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Just getting into Reddit. It's weird.

I just got onto reddit this last week and am following a few topics. I joined the Ask a feminist board, only to find that TWAW and I'm a Terf. Is there a GC subreddit for the delivery of antiwokeness? I nearly piped up, but thought better of it.

www.reddit.com/r/GenderCritical/

Haworthia · 16/08/2019 16:47

You need r/gendercritical

Every other feminist sub insists that TWAW.

lady69 · 16/08/2019 16:48

R/gendercritical is what you are looking for.

SuperSange · 16/08/2019 17:14

Thank you all. I knew there must be somewhere on there. Somewhere sensible. X

I also like the debate sub ( r/GCdebatesQT )which is maybe the only place on the internet besides twitter where TRAs and GC sometimes have reasonable conversations

Hellmistress · 16/08/2019 17:22

I really wouldn't describe r/gendercritical as "sensible". Unless I popped over there on a totally unrepresentative day some of the threads were absolutely barmy. I'm also not fond of the look of that forum, I much prefer it over here

NonnyMouse1337 · 16/08/2019 17:23

GenderCritical and GCdebatesQT are the most informative ones.

Also detrans is really good. Great insight into what individuals are going / have gone through.

OvaHere · 16/08/2019 17:36

Be warned if you join GC you will end up auto banned from all kinds of unrelated subs due to being 'dangerous'.

You might want a secure account (throwaway email etc..) purely for r/GC.

TheChampagneGalop · 16/08/2019 17:50

In which way is it barmy, Hellmistress?

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 16/08/2019 17:51

All of the women's subreddits that aren't explicitly trans-exclusionary have tw admins.

In particular r/actuallesbians is, er, mostly trans, twoxchromosomes is run by people with Y chromosomes and will block you for any posts that go against TRA propaganda, etc.

FWRLurker · 16/08/2019 18:00

r/truelesbians is I think the only (properly) male exclusive lesbian sub

Things have gotten crazier lately. It was actually some GC comments in TwoX - there was actually debate with whether a trans woman was socialized male or female (TW claimed she was always female because she didn’t like stereotypes which several woman objected to) which got me to GC for the first time.

Nowadays such a thread wouldn’t stand for long at all.

SpinsterOfArts · 16/08/2019 21:56

Including the Handmaid's Tale subreddit. No GC women allowed. Confused

AnotherAdultHumanFemale · 16/08/2019 23:01

Reddit has been taken over apart from a select few gender critical and women only subs.

Gender Critical is the main GC subreddit and it has a list of all the other women only and GC subs (for example there is a GCguys subreddit for men).

All the other subs on there are full of men identifying as women especially the ones to do with women. If you join any GC sub you'll be banned from most of the others because they've convinced people the GC sub is hateful even though it's just a load of feminists talking about sex based rights and how they are currently under attack. I feel sad because all the mental health support forums have been taken over and they are full of people who are vulnerable.

thewitchofwentworth · 17/08/2019 10:27

The /r/askfeminists and /r/feminism subs are run by a Men's Rights Activist (the mod named demmian) and as noted above most of the other sub that you'd think would be female-only or female-run are actually run by men.

One of David Challenor's adult baby disciples is even a moderator on /r/actuallesbians and a horde of other LGBT subs. Reddit in general is a nasty woman-hating place, unless you stick to the small number of female exclusive subs.

TheInebriati · 17/08/2019 12:26

Be extremely careful on Reddit, other users and mods on some forums won't think twice about doxxing you. Use Protonmail, and never give any personal information.
It can be fun if you are robust. If you find Twitter too much I wouldn't recommend it.

(I mean actual doxxing, which is followed by harassment.)
