"Been diagnosed with gender dysphoria :)"

Been torturing myself and reading the MtF subreddit. Came across the above post, where they are rejoicing in their diagnosis of being mentally unwell, and planning their next steps before they get HRT, namely throwing away men's clothes, watching YouTube videos of "how to be ladylike"

Other posters are giving their congratulations. Congratulations on being diagnosed with an ILLNESS.

Mainly it's made me realise how shocked I am that the treatment for this illness is to give hormones and indulge in the fantasy. It's absolutely BSC. Would you give someone with anorexia weight loss pills? Maybe that's not a good comparison, I don't know. Just rambling.

It's not a celebration here. It's a problem, that interferes with normal life functioning, and because of that, it unfortunately needs my attention.

It's not a celebration to set off on a path that can easily end in loss of sexual function, sterility, life long dependence on hormones and associated known and unknown side effects.

People who think it's all wonderful are idiots.

This is an interesting article about gender dysphoria:

Dysphoria is certainly nothing to smile about.

Interesting article dejavulva. Only skim read but will have a proper read later. I am very interested in learning more about the AGP type. My partner is MTF trans and we believe we have met and come across some AGPs. They make us feel weird and we avoid them but it's getting more common and all the descriptions on here fit what weve been seeing.

I also believe that, like my other half, gender dysphoria can come from dissociative identity disorder. Like the stereotypical multiple personality kind of story. I know more than one trans identifying person who's personalitys present exactly the same way mine do, except all mine are female presenting. It's thesame symptoms, behaviours etc. I strongly believe that if these people didnt have the trans element they would be diagnosed and treated for dissociative disorders.

I'm sorry if anyone finds this offensive. But it's my experience and conclusions and certainly not intended to be insulting.
