Furries & gimp masks at Surrey Pride

It was Surrey's first Pride recently and yet again people with sexual fetishes are latching on.

I consider myself fairly liberal - I don't give a monkeys if people want to be Furries or wear gimp masks with their own consensual sexual partners.

But nobody is discriminated against on the basis of wearing a gimp mask in their own home

Why has this suddenly become a thing? What does it even have to do with Pride anyway?

I actually know a straight guy who has a sadism fetish (believe me, I wish I did not know this about him) and argues that it should be part of the alphabet soup because sadists experience negative reactions when they talk about it at work. He makes this argument like that would be the same thing as Jane experiencing homophobia when she mentions that she spent the weekend with her girlfriend.

Well the furry /pup type perv linked above to his Twitter is trying to say it’s not a fetish it’s a lifestyle etc…exactly what earlier posters had predicted. Complete with the usual ‘educate yourself’ comments to those people calling him out on parading his fetishes in public. I suppose you could choose for your fetish to be your lifestyle. But so what? For some people fitness is a lifestyle, music is a lifestyle, religion is a lifestyle. But even if he lives his fetish as a lifestyle, how in holy fuck is that relevant to sexual orientation. Sexual orientation is absolutely not just a "lifestyle." His claim that he belongs there as a 'pup' because that's his lifestyle is belittling same sex attraction and turning it into something that is widely seen as a lifestyle. Something that actually destroys all of the hard work done in getting people to understand that it's not a fucking lifestyle.

It wasn't just the pavement though. Holes in tables, sofas, a car exhaust.
