I am a lefty liberal who found my inclination to make room for others challenged by the knowledgeable and patient posters on this board.
Got a bit more interested because of the frankly rude and batshit nature of some of the 'What About The Menz' responses to basic questions.
I started personally following the amazing Karen Ingala Smith on twitter, despite using counting dead women as a professional reference since she started the project - reading tweets and responses my eyes opened to how many things in my working life had already been affected. Even better trying to explain self ID to a few Greenham Common, apartheid boycotting, section 28 women (lesbian and straight) who told me to give my head a wobble.
Then came Megan Fox, the Hampstead ponds and Scottish GRA consultations, celebrities frantically apologising for stating what seemed to be uncontoversal thoughts and my BSmeter started to twitch. I think Owen Jones and his responses to Julie Bindel et al was personally responsible for getting me off the fence and the splinters out of my behind, so thank you OJ.
Long winded way to say thank you from a long time lurker and please read this easy read analysis of the policy capture and failure of public bodies to address basic questions.
