There are so many informative articles being published at the moment, it's hard to keep up.

That article is interesting because of the tone.

Can there really be anyone, though, even in these politically correct, diversity sensitive, gender-respecting times, who believes individuals such as Carrie Cooper automatically deserve special privileges?

But there can’t be many who don’t believe the current system is being exploited in one way or another.

Mail now starting to push an editorial line within the reporting.

Agreed LangCleg - it's not an 'on the fence' article and interesting to publish it in the week where we get a new cabinet, Justice minister etc. The civil service must be having conniptions - they aren't the only voice in town any longer.

Rules need to be in place which disallow transition for people convicted of sex crimes because they certainly knew what gender they wete while committing those crimes.

We have been warning about this for years and we were painted as bigots. Glad to see people are slowly waking up.

A family friend is a doctor and did a stint volunteering with a women’s prison providing ob/gyn services. She was astonished at the lengths some would go to
lie about or attempt to induce medical conditions as a means to escape or get special privileges.

So no it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that some criminals will use this as a loophole to gain access to new victims or get some other perceived benefits.

And more to the point, they knew and demonstrated their sex.

By all means support people to transition their 'gender' within the correct estate for their sex.

But isn’t the real scandal that the system is treating the likes of Carrie Cooper - a paedophile - more as victims than criminals?

^ I can see why this would be appealing for lots of men, criminal or otherwise.

In the age of #MeTop when they're told that the world has changed around them and that, far from being a useful thing, their white male privilege is actually viewed negatively now, it's so obvious that they'd need another way to present themselves.

And Cooper is 53 years old and has had plenty of time to transition on the outside. But chose not to.

Cooper only started identifying as female after being charged with sexual offences against children the first time, prior to his court appearance in 2012.

He was sentenced to 14 years for sexual offences against children as Gary Cooper in 2012.

And then sentenced again as Carrie Cooper in 2018 for different offences.
