www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/no-girls-born-india-villages-female-foeticide-sex-selective-abortions-a9015541.html

Shared this on my FB and got a response from a goady fucker (friends husband) saying he thought I agreed with abortion on demand and that this is the natural consequence Angry

I can't even formulate a reply to him because I'm so hot and angry!

and why do women need these abortions? They are a natural consequence of disrespecting women.

My friend is an ob, they have a right to withhold sex information if they believe the family could selectively abort - but it's easy to get private scans now

Do men like that realise that they will die out with no women to give birth to them?!

I know , female infanticide and sex selective abortions is the weirdest culmination of patriarchal hatred of the female I think I've ever come across.

You do get the odd mainstream newspaper article hand wringing about the lack of wives available, showing us nicely what we're put on this earth for. I swear I saw a serious article about how female infanticide increases loneliness in the poor men.

These are always accompanied by an absolutely cracking DM sadface photo of a forlorn looking bloke. I can't help but think "Cheer up, luv, you'd look so much prettier and acceptable to the all-important female gaze if you smiled ".

There is a significant economic element around marriage for girls. It can impoverish families. It's not chance that you see this particularly where customs like that exist.

Totally Goose. The solution is for women to be allowed careers, money and property in their own right but overcoming traditions is difficult. Britain has come a long way in a short time, it's not that long since women here went from being their father's property to being their husband's. And plenty of people still act like it!
