Queer theory for kids

I think this cartoon is supposed to be reassuring (?) but I find it disturbing.

  1. What mother would talk to her daughter about their friends genitalia (“big clitoris”)?
  1. Do some males actually think women pee through their clitoris?

It feels deeply sexist to me - the worldly child “educating” a grateful listener who has no thoughts of her own.

That's so disturbing, are you sure this is intended for children? Or is it just "hey these children are talking about it so adults must be OK to talk like this"

picklemepopcorn · 25/07/2019 12:45

Another 'transwomen are better than women' post. They can pee standing up, after all.

It's disturbing, it infers a child being brought up as a girl, told she has a really big clitoris, so big it's actually a penis. If the child is so young they don't know the difference, should they be making a choice?

SummerSix · 25/07/2019 12:52

Creepy as fuck

BickerinBrattle · 25/07/2019 12:55

I have a clitoris thats so big, it looks like a penis. And you know what? It can get even bigger.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 25/07/2019 13:00

Do some males actually think women pee through their clitoris?

Given some men think women pee out of our vaginas that wouldn't surprise me.

The cartoon merely demonstrates that far too many people are ill-educated idiots who lack even the most basic understanding of mammalian anatomy.

picklemepopcorn · 25/07/2019 13:04

Where's it from,2B?

2BthatUnnoticed · 25/07/2019 13:09

MrsJamin not sure the intended audience, my niece who is 12 sent it to me so I think it came from Tumblr.

I have no issue with someone thinking if their penis as a clitoris if it helps them, but asking others to adopt that feels wrong.

If it looks like a penis, pees like a penis then it's a penis. Not a clitoris and nothing like a clitoris.

If they are too young to know the difference they are too young to decide they are the "wrong" sex.

HumberElla · 25/07/2019 13:10

So we're back to an era where female anatomy is at best a mystery. At worst described only in relation to male anatomy.

Female bodies, especially our reproductive system, is still vastly under researched, misrepresented, taught wrongly from primary school onwards and totally misunderstood by many. Why on earth would teaching children this bullshit be a good idea for either sex?

nauticant · 25/07/2019 13:12

What are the guesses on the sex of the cartoonist?

Here's a clue. Which sex is probably going to be keenest to convince young girls that a penis is a female sex organ?

NeutralJanet · 25/07/2019 13:12

How do they explain away the testicles then?

BickerinBrattle · 25/07/2019 13:31

Testicles are lumpy labia.

It's from assigned male on tumblr. I saw this one retweeted by Dionne Orlander this morning. Here's a link to the rest. Enjoy

And here's a link to the twitter thread. Not exactly well received.

seriously this made me retch

nauticant · 25/07/2019 14:09

There is a very very long thread elsewhere about the cartoonist and their work.
