Has this been posted yet? Saw is on FB and it's two days old and just marvellous in its good sense.

Bordin said the motion is not an “ideological position, but a proposal of common sense in the exclusive interest of the health of children throughout Italy.” Critics have long warned against medical interventions for persons experiencing gender dysphoria. For example, Dr. Michelle Cretella of the American College of Pediatricians said in 2017, “Transgenderism is a psychological disorder, not a biological one.” She added, “Consequently, we expect transgenderism and its associated medical procedures to increase as society increasingly promotes this lifestyle.” Regarding a move by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons to coin the term “gender confirmation surgery,” she said, “Linguistic engineering precedes and accompanies social engineering.” Cretella went on to say, “Transgender activist physicians realize that sex reassignment surgery is a misnomer. In other words, surgery cannot change a person’s sex. By renaming sex reassignment surgery gender confirming surgery, they give the impression that they are affirming an inborn trait and further the innate immutable transgender myth.”

👏👏👏👏👏

Nice one Italy!

Surgery cannot change a person’s sex

Transgenderism is a psychological disorder, not a biological one.

Can’t be said too often or too loud.
Well done Italy.

TurboTeddy · 25/07/2019 00:48

“Linguistic engineering precedes and accompanies social engineering.”

This is a remarkable article and if the motion succeeds it will be excellent news for the gender confused children of Italy. Let's hope we wake up and deploy some uncommon sense here soon before too many more children are harmed.

FloralBunting · 25/07/2019 01:26

Ok, well, before any of the usual suspects get it in, lifesitenews is one of those more uncomfortable sources.

But I doubt the usual suspects will be all over this, as they tend to ignore the actual stories in favour of tedious time wasting sock trans-froth threads or goading lesbians.

So hsat, what a fucking brilliant motion. May the wind be in it's sails.

Hithere12 · 25/07/2019 01:27

This is great. I’m fine with adults taking hormones but teenagers go through faxes all the time.

Hithere12 · 25/07/2019 01:27

Fazes

Watchfulwaiter · 25/07/2019 01:42

wow, how long will it take the uk to get to this state of affairs

Lamahaha · 25/07/2019 07:13

Yes, FloralBunting, it's a pro-life site. And leftist groups voted against the motion, as can be expected, so the woke media will shy away from reporting it. But it's wonderful to see that the motion HAS been approved by the council and a huge step forward -- truly "stunning and brave".

I especially liked this bit:
“Transgender activist physicians realize that sex reassignment surgery is a misnomer. In other words, surgery cannot change a person’s sex. By renaming sex reassignment surgery gender confirming surgery, they give the impression that they are affirming an inborn trait and further the innate immutable transgender myth.”

Linguistic manipulation at its finest, and disgraceful coming from physicians who have presumably sworn to do no harm.

“Transgenderism is a psychological disorder, not a biological one. Consequently, we expect transgenderism and its associated medical procedures to increase as society increasingly promotes this lifestyle

I’ve never heard it expressed quite like that before, but it makes total sense

I wonder if the argument is similar for anorexia?

AnyOldPrion · 25/07/2019 08:17

I read that section as well Bernard and had the same reaction. It chimes exactly with what appears to me to be the truth, yet I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it expressed in an official article before, and not hedged around by any doubt.

FormerMediocreMale · 25/07/2019 08:27

"There is no evidence, in fact,” reads the motion, “on the effective full restoration of fertility in the case of withdrawal from treatment.” It cites data circulated by the American College of Pediatricians, which stated that as many as 98% of minors will outgrow their gender dysphoria (a feeling that one’s biological sex does not accord with one’s gender expression) after having passed through puberty naturally.

Great article. That their is data from the US regarding desisting if allowed to go through puberty is great. This matches GIDS finding over 80% desist after normal puberty.

WATCH AND WAIT must be the default.

Yes, this, a thousand times this.

I am sick of the language mangling attempting to hide reality.

It isn't 'gender confirmation surgery', it is genital mutilation surgery and should be referred to as such.

Ethical surgeons do not obscure their procedures behind twee language. They don't need to.

Amalfimamma · 25/07/2019 12:03

Happy to have voted for the proposing party.

Will vote them another million times if they keep on doing what they are doing

Lordamighty · 25/07/2019 12:31

We should be pushing for this in the UK, a total ban on puberty blockers, except for use in precocious puberty.

littlbrowndog · 25/07/2019 12:37

Yes for a block here on these untested drugs being used on children

And yeah for using proper language instead of stuff like bottom surgery. Sounds like it’s an operation on piles instead of mutilating healthy genitals
