Labour mayors so keen to have their own Yaniv stories.

The male mayors want the men that they feel uncomfortable around to just bugger off out of the men’s rooms and changing areas and off to the women's spaces, eh?

Well, quite.

I was thinking about this the other day. Here we are, feminists, welcoming back the detranisitioners with open arms, full of love for our non-conforming sisters. While, it seems, the men just cannot wait to get rid of their non-conforming brethren.

Who's the bigot, again?

CloudRusting · 19/07/2019 10:18

We’re funded by evangelical right wingers? Excellent, to whom do I speak to get my money? Hmm

I’m really disappointed with Khan on this.

Oldrockman · 19/07/2019 10:40

That there are disparate groups that disagree on a lot of things have come out about this crap should say something. They are using the Christian rights agreeing with Rad Fem's and making it as a look they are bigoted right wing hate merchants. The Communist party has come out against a lot of this and an awful lot of trad conservatives think it is abhorrent. You would think that all these not a lot in common groups ringing alarm bells would make them question the whole notion of this. That is not going into the scary stuff that has also come out from predatory men using it as a cover.

Great letter to Andy Burnham:

"Four men keen to take back the hard-won rights of women."

How dare they, they won't be affected in any way yet we'll lose our sports, our funding, our scholarships, our awards, women's shortlists, and have to go to the toilet and get changed around men dressed up as women, many of whom are autogynephiles putting ourselves at risk and having our privacy violated. I suspect many of us will avoid public toilets if self ID comes in returning us to Victorian times when women's toilets didn't exist. Not to mention having to accept male medical professional for intimate medical procedures when we could previously always ask for female only medics.

Also, has anyone else noticed how the Guardian rarely allows comments under any article to do with gender? The one time I saw a comments section under a gender related article, everyone, yes everyone disagreed and told them to stop being silly. It definitely made me feel better seeing that even Guardian readers disagreed with the ideology.

Maybe we should all write to our mayors (not these ones) to voice our concerns? If they don't hear us they might think women think all of this is ok,.

SunsetBeetch · 27/08/2019 18:45

Any Mancunians on here want to join up with Emma here? She wrote to Andy Burnham to ask him which women's groups he consulted with before signing this letter, and has now recieved a (shit) reponse from him ( which she diseects brilliantly in the thread below).

If you're not in twitter, she'll be made aware of this thread (she was happy for me to post on her behalf) so you can reply on here, or I'm happy to pass on messages.

"Can followers please RT this so that Mancunian women with concerns can get involved or give me their concerns if they're not comfortable doing it themselves.
TY!"

"Today I got my email response from the Mayor. It did not answer the only question I asked but did gift a link to a page that "contains some myth busting facts."

Every single one of which can be taken apart.
So that's what I'll be doing today. /1"

SunsetBeetch · 27/08/2019 18:46

And I'm posting this thread of hers too, just cause it's ace.

"And? Not a single one of you blue ticks are more important than the women on estates who are demanding a sit down with our representatives to discuss concerns.
Yet to hear from Burnham.
Not one of those uppity names will bear the brunt, you included.
Do one."

"Not a single one of you are here helping our working poor. Sanctioned, working mums. Lesbians trying to access social housing.
Girls using public toilet loo roll to soak up their very female menstrual blood."

BiologyIsReal · 27/08/2019 19:05

I'm always surprised when left leaning women find it surprising that left wing men don't give a flying arse about women. Even Doris Lessing in her Communist days recognised that the left's attitude to women was that a women's purpose in life was to be bedded (when they weren't making sandwiches for the revolution).

SunsetBeetch · 27/08/2019 19:20

It came as a shock to me, Biology. :(

FFSFFSFFS · 27/08/2019 19:23

Oh look - a gay man who doesn't give a shit about women.

Who would have thought.

littlbrowndog · 27/08/2019 19:30

I just started reading that myth buster piece and my head exploded with the total shite in it🤕

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 27/08/2019 20:06

Does it say anywhere which other mayors supported this? The article only mentions Khan and Burnham as far as I could see.

DickKerrLadies · 27/08/2019 20:13

I would love to know whether Andy Burnham has actually read that link and spent more than a few minutes thinking about it*. Especially with a potential election looming.

SunsetBeetch · 27/08/2019 20:18

Signatories:

Sadiq Khan (London)
Andy Burnham (Greater Manchester)
Steve Rotherham (Liverpool)
Dan Jarvis (Sheffield City)

How little they think of us and our levels of intelligence, littlbrowndog

Redshoeblueshoe · 27/08/2019 20:23

I voted for Burnham. Never again.
If there is anyone who is GC standing for Manchester Mayor I am more than happy to do leafletting for them

Leiasmummy · 27/08/2019 22:13

Long time lurker here from Manchester. Not a member of Labour but always voted for them and voted for Andy Burnham. However, now I think he mostly seems to go for the thing that’s the most popular at the time and I’m not sure exactly what he stands for.

The myth buster thing he sent was appalling. I don’t tweet but definitely support Emma’s comments.

Redshoeblueshoe · 27/08/2019 22:38

I've just read Andy Burnham's wiki page Shock
It says he is a feminist and he agrees with AWS
Except that's all shit when you believe TWAW

OldCrone · 28/08/2019 00:27

The myth buster thing he sent was appalling.

I agree with the last sentence, though.

We can’t test gender, because there’s nothing to test.

And yet we're being told that our whole society should be built around this thing that doesn't exist.

MockersthefeMANist · 28/08/2019 07:04

Some more Mythdusters:

But aren't squares made of straight lines whereas circles are round?

  • In fact no. There is no such thing as a perfectly straight line or a perfect circle. Squares and circles are a spectrum.

Allowing foxes to self-ID as chickens will pose a risk to henhouses.

  • Of course not. Fox rights and chicken rights are equally important. Cis chickens have nothing to fear from transchickens.

OK, Just Stop, Now! You can't just make up 'facts' and dismiss material reality as myth.

  • In an infinite universe, all things are possible.
DexyMidnight · 28/08/2019 07:27

Is saddiq khan happy for a woman with a beard, testicles and penis to walk into the woman's prayer room at the mosque?

Is he happy for mosques to be shut down because they refused entry to 'women' who refused to cover their hair to pray? Because let's not forget a woman doesn't need to look a certain way, they don't even need a vagina, it's the way they feel inside that counts.

SunsetBeetch · 28/08/2019 13:15

PLS RT: If any Manc women would like to meet with Mayor Borenham
ahem
I mean Burnham! I'm going to be calling them to try set up a meet for myself.
More the merrier though obviously. I'll see what they say and hopefully have a date before Christ returns. t.co/klmbLwZAxZ

RoyalCorgi · 28/08/2019 13:30

Is saddiq khan happy for a woman with a beard, testicles and penis to walk into the woman's prayer room at the mosque?

And vice versa, of course. Why shouldn't Muslim women self-identify as men and use the men's area at the mosque? Or indeed partake of any of the privileges offered to men in Islam? Perhaps a self-identifying man could become an imam, for example.

I do wonder how Andy Burnham can point to a set of obvious falsehoods with a clear conscience. Does he not even have a sense of embarrassment?

SunsetBeetch · 28/08/2019 18:10

Somebody should ask him, RoyalCorgi

mcduffy · 28/08/2019 19:44

I'm a Manc resident and I'll come!

HandsOffMyRights · 28/08/2019 19:56

Before I was banned, I would @Khan in my tweets regarding the lunacy that was Edward Lord's 'consulation' re mixed sex facilities in London.

I saw many others copy him in to tweets re the erasure of female only facilities and Hampstead pond, so he and his male minions should be only too aware that there's a male blitz on female only spaces and rights.

Cowards.
