Well, unless they (supposedly like some gay clubs in other places) have an actual dick-check, I assume that a transman who identified as a gay man, and obeyed the dress code, might make it in as a cub? Packing, being hairy, having the right gear, and being accompanied by a bear might help. But sounds like who they want to exclude is gay men in drag (quite puzzled as to why a gay man in drag would want to hang out with the bears???).

I don't have a problem with this at all, a specific set of gay men with specific dress codes and sexual proclivities wants to keep themselves exclusive. Why not?

Other cities have male-only leather bars and male-only saunas. Amazing how transmen don't barge their way into those. It's almost as though female genitalia and a smaller body mean that transmen continue to be female when it comes to the risk of rape and forced pregnancy risk, despite their claims to be men.

Just wondering if anyone else was following it. Apparently there were some heated comments made about the lack of inclusiveness but it didn't seem like anyone was threatened with rape or 'die in a fire' style unpleasantness. Just adults being allowed to make their own decisions and sometimes disagreeing with each other.

Trans men who have 'fully transitioned' are invited to attend apparently. I wonder if anyone has called the owner a genital obsessive. (Not sure how that would work, gay guys are usually not coy about dicks.)

I tried to find out how many bars/clubs there are in London which are exclusively for lesbians. Does anyone know if there are any? Or are they all queer/inclusive?

There are no bars/clubs exclusively for lesbians. There is a well publicised issue with the definition of woman and lesbian.

Some and Michelle yes, gay men are gay, rain is wet etc. It's a non-story, the club doesn't appear to be subject to threats of violence, no one is carrying baseball bats and I guess there is no gender-neutral/gay male version of the slur t**f - ?

After reading the earlier posts I just had to look up kangaroo vaginas. Yes, they have three. As well as some sensationalist websites, there was some serious discussion about the differing evolutionary development of vaginas in marsupials and placental mammals that was really interesting. It brought home the amazing power of female anatomy. Vaginas aren’t just holes!

Last September, a group of drag queens staged a protest outside the venue after a punter alleged that he was turned away at the door for wearing heels. These guys don't even want men who like to express themselves using feminine steretypes. Who may also identify as men, given that we've beng given the clear steer from lobbying groups that drag isn't transexualism but it is trans..

Let alone females who want to identify as men - are they welcome? Given Mark's statement that the club is for 'men who want men'. Mark may discover that's a wide-open statement in the current climate!

Strangely surprising (not), given that drag queens are under Stonewall's banner of trans, there doesn't seem to be much official lobbying to ensure drag queens should be allowed into this establishment.

So essentially it is a club with a dress code. Many clubs have dress codes: don’t look / dress right, you don’t get in.

It doesn’t say what their policy on Trans Men is. That’s the point at which Stonewall should become involved. I wonder which way they would go?

I think a journalist needs to ask the Stonewall Press office for a statement on this, covering the status of TransMen.

I’m reminding of a time we were hitting the clubs for a hen do. We were told by the guy at the door that it was lesbian and gay night (yes, I’m old, no alphabet soup). We briefly thought about going in because it was our favorite club, but quickly realized that showing up with a woman in a bridal veil would be disrespectful, so we went elsewhere. We still had a good night and we didn’t ruin anyone else’s in the process.
