Apologies if people are already aware, but I was browsing through our favourite doctors twitter and saw that he has retweeted this thread from mimmymum.

mobile.twitter.com/mimmymum/status/1148639769041264640

It looks like she's been 'investigating' all the various crowdfunders which have been set up in defence of women's rights, and apparently dark money is funding all the transphobes!

They really don't want to believe that we can think for ourselves and donate our money wherever we want.

Yes, they're spreading the rumour that gender critical fundraisers are actually fronts for money laundering.

I don't know much about that kind of thing, but wouldn't money laundering involve larger amounts than £12.5k?

stayingstrange · 15/07/2019 15:37

Well that's the plot for McMafia Season 2 sorted Wink

BlooperReel · 15/07/2019 15:45

This is like that weird reverse accusation thing that cheating men do to their partners when it is in fact them who are cheating, isn't it?

Ereshkigal · 15/07/2019 15:48

Desperate.

LizzieSiddal · 15/07/2019 15:58

I hope people report most of those tweets, as they contain lies. No one is “anti trans”.

NotTerfNorCis · 15/07/2019 16:01

It seems to me that if someone was money laundering, they wouldn't do it in public and publish all their transactions like this?

Manderleyagain · 15/07/2019 16:23

It's actually great to see all that successful fundraising brought together in one place. Even though she got the chronological order wrong, and some detail, and the general tone obviously. 280 000 is impressive.

Do they really believe there are only a few people involved in this? 750 made it to a merting in London the other night.

LangCleg · 15/07/2019 16:24

Where's my dark money cheque?

Melroses · 15/07/2019 16:27

Where's my dark money cheque?

In the post WinkWink

I'm more intrigued by the amounts handed out by the Scottish government to prominent trans groups when public funding is stretched thin for other types of charities.

-----

Engender received an income last year of £335,000, of which £301,000 came from the Scottish government.

Scottish Trans Alliance had an income last year of £466,000. Of this sum, £427,000 came from the Scottish government.

TheInebriati · 15/07/2019 17:01

This...this is not how money laundering works!

Melroses · 15/07/2019 17:10

No - I think you are supposed to put a loads of dirty money in, then it comes out in small, clean, accountable amounts.

This is the other way around (and nice and clean at all times Smile)

TirisfalPumpkin · 15/07/2019 17:15

'I've investigated' - lol, no you haven't.

I am also interested in where the big donations came from. They're not 'shady powerful ally' level of enormous, but they are pretty hefty, definitely beyond average woman on the street's spare £, like most of TT's donations were.

I am wondering if it's more sportswomen, politicians or other public figures who don't feel able to be publicly GC at the moment and are supporting in the best way they can.

But, you know, that's only the most likely explanation for anonymous substantial donations to a controversial cause. Why go with that when an elaborate conspiracy theory about dArK mOnEy!! is available.

JoyceJeffries · 15/07/2019 17:23

She’s too thick to investigate anything.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 15/07/2019 17:24

mimmymuuuuummmmmy bless!

mimmy's hobbies:
*monitoring mumsnet while attempting to not spontaneously combust
*getting laughed out of court for trying to have a transwoman prosecuted for transphobia

and now look at this!

I read down the list and I've donated to nearly all of those. Is this fruitloop suggesting I don't exist? OMG SO INVALIDATING.

Did I also imagine the 800 plus people in the QE2 centre last wednesday? I seriously only had one in the pub before.

Lumene · 15/07/2019 17:25

Mimmy Mum should right for the Daily Mail, she has their style down perfectly. Hints, associations, suggestions, rumours.

Hellmistress · 15/07/2019 17:30

I'm taking this as a sign that they're becoming desperate. If they were fully confident that all this regulatory capture et cetera was working and will work, they wouldn't need to bother.

Keep pulling!

MrsSlocombesPussy · 15/07/2019 17:34

It's also a useful reminder of where to donate when I want to launder another £10

I like this quote
Emboldened by the lack of successful legal action against their increasingly blatant transphobia, some “gender critical” individuals have turned to crowdfunders to finance their campaigns

Desperate indeed

Eyes up depleted bank balance
Notes amounts sent to most of these crowd funders
Considers own income via my own blood, sweat and tears

Feels very cheerful that so many woman (and men) share my concerns about these toxic organisations. It's great to see it all summarised like this and to see the real difference we are making against this bloated government funded movement.

A really positive start to the week.

dolorsit · 15/07/2019 17:50

Not read it all but the thread appears to libel Linda Bellos. You might want to edit that Mimmymum.

nettie434 · 15/07/2019 17:58

Yes - sharp contrast Nonnymouse. I vaguely remember somebody on here looking at Stonewall and commenting similarly on the amount that came in via grants.

When Obama was first elected, his campaign was funded by many small donations. Why is it so strange to think that crowdfunders would not work the same way?

Lordamighty · 15/07/2019 18:32

I’ve donated to a few of those, nothing dark about my hard earned cash you ninny.

TemporaryPermanent · 15/07/2019 18:32

£280000 isn't all that much is it?

It's just over half the grant that Mermaids were given to expand their network. And this is split between several campaigns.

FannyCann · 15/07/2019 18:49

The National lottery is spraying it around. £365K to Hull for workshops with nail technicians, hairdressers, beauticians and make up artists, promoting trans awareness.
We should invite JY over. That'd raise awareness alright. Wink
